(ANS – Turin) – Saturday 24 June is a day of celebration for the entire Salesian Family: on the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist and St John Bosco's name day, gratitude and affection is expressed towards the person who represents him today, his 10th Successor; the feast is often also the occasion to celebrate the fidelity of those who celebrate significant anniversaries of Profession or Priestly Ordination; and the date also coincides with the monthly commemoration of Mary Help of Christians – moreover it is in the month in which the Basilica of Mary Help of Turin was inaugurated (9 June 1868 was the exact date). All these reasons for joy came together in the tribute concert that the Resonantiae Camera Chorus from San Cataldo in the Sicilian Province (ISI), wanted to offer to Our Lady Help of Christians by performing in the evening in the Turin basilica with a series of a cappella hymns, introduced by Luciano Arcarese and directed by Maestro Daniele Riggi, receiving great success and much appreciation.
Rome, Italy – June 2023 - On Sunday 25 June, at the Basilica of St John Bosco in the Tuscolano district of Rome, eight young Salesians from the Blessed Zeffirino Namuncurá Theological community were ordained deacons by Bishop Alberto Lorenzelli, SDB, Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago de Chile. They were joined by a large community of faithful, both from the popular parish, which is one of the largest in the diocese of Rome, and by Salesians, young people and friends from the communities where the ordinands carry out their educative and pastoral service as part of their formation journey. Also present were Salesians and young people from the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS), where the deacons completed their studies with a baccalaureate in Theology.
(ANS – Bologna) – The Community of the Mission of Don Bosco (CMB), 28th group of the Salesian Family founded in Bologna in 1983 at the Salesian Our Lady of San Luca Institute and the Sacred Heart Parish there, will be holding its Third General Assembly from 2 to 9 July this year at its historic headquarters in Bologna. Representatives of the various communities from Madagascar, Burundi, Ghana, Haiti, Argentina, Chile, Ukraine and Italy will be present, together with their Salesian Delegates.
(ANS – Turin) – The formation and accompaniment course for 10 newly appointed Provincials concluded on Friday, 23 June, the liturgical memorial of St Joseph Cafasso. This event, which lasted two weeks, allowed the Provincials to receive fundamental pointers for the successful completion of their service, through working sessions with all the members of the General Council, and even more so thanks to conversation and immediate discussion with the Rector Major and his Councillors. Participants expressed their satisfaction at the end of the course.
(ANS – Turin) – The Salesian Family recalls St John Bosco's name day and the origins of the Feast of Gratitude at Valdocco Oratory on 24 June, the feast of St John the Baptist – since, as it is narrated in the Biographical Memoirs, for the boys "the feast of St. John the Baptist was a special occasion to demonstrate their feelings." This year's celebration was inevitably affected by the news of the death of the Rector Major's mother, Isabel Artime Garcia, but it was nevertheless celebrated modestly, to express the gratitude of the entire Salesian Family (SF) towards its Centre of unity.
Turin, Italy – June 2023 – Twelve Salesian deacons were ordained in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Valdocco on 10 June by Alessandro Giraudo, the Auxiliary Bishop of Turin.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
