Time for Eucharistic adoration was organised on Friday the 9th, led by the Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, and animated by the Gulli Ensemble.

On Saturday the 10th there was the presentation of the book “If You Knew the Gift of God” - Eight Perspectives on the Mystery of the Life of the Servant of God Fr Silvio Galli. Journalist Clara Camplani, Fr Cameroni and Fr Rossano Gaboardi spoke with the Ensemble in pizzico. Father Gaboardi writes in the introduction to the book: “With the pages of this book we wish to offer a small contribution to allow the light which the servant of God Fr Silvio Galli was a witness to, to continue to guide the steps of those who have known him and those who intend to explore his footsteps. They are symbolic places made of words and images that intend to restore the mystery of a life entirely dedicated to the cause of the Gospel; eight perspectives that allow us to grasp the beauty of a following of Christ followed to the end with humility and gentleness.”

The message continues: “We wanted to let Fr Galli's own words and photographic portraits lead us along the inner path that explains the secret of a work with immeasurable limits: thousands of people met, welcomed and accompanied; places of discomfort, care and forced segregation visited and blessed; pockets of misery, poverty and war supported economically and spiritually in many parts of the world; a centre of welcome and support for the poorest - the Auxilium - that still cares for hundreds of families on a daily basis.”

Finally, on Sunday 11th, Mass was celebrated on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Fr Pascual Chávez was the main celebrant at the Mass animated by the choir of Fr Silvio Galli's friends. During the homily Fr Chávez presented the Servant of God as a Eucharistic man: “We are also celebrating the holiness of a man who understood that if he celebrated the Eucharist it was to become Eucharist himself, to become bread broken for others, blood shed for others… Did Fr Silvio Galli do what did wanted to do with his life, with the foundation of the Auxilium? Show the love of God, a love of God that takes care of the needs of others? He was not a philanthropist, he was a Salesian priest, with a great passion for God and for humankind. And his passion for God fueled his giving for others. Today we need even more people who overcome the culture of indifference, with the culture of caring for others.”

Over the years the memory of Fr Galli has grown in the hearts of many people who look to him as a witness of the Beatitudes, someone who embodied God's consolation for so many men and women wounded in body and soul and who find reasons for hope in him.
