Rome, Italy - October 2023 - Study days on Latin America's First Nations Peoples were held at the Salesian Zeffirino Namuncurá house in Rome from 4 to 6 October 2023. The community is made up of students of theology. Accepting the request of some Provincials who carry out missionary activities with first nations peoples, and taking into account preparation for the 150th anniversary of the First Missionary Expedition to Argentina, the Missions Sector proposed three days of study as an introductory core for all the participants of the 25th Ongoing Formation Course in Missionary Ministry 2023. The goal of this event was to offer the Salesians food for thought on Americas's first nations peoples. To facilitate the reflections, a number of people were invited, such as the members of the Salesian Historical Archives in South Argentina, Ms. Pamela Alarcón and Ms Pamela Alarcón and Fr Alejandro León, who presented a historical overview of the presence of Salesians among America's first nations peoples; Fr Justino Sarmento Rezende, who led the reflection on missionary practices among first nations people and its perspectives; Paulo Suess, a diocesan priest of German origin, a theologian and missionary for 60 years in Brazil with the theme of Re-reading Evangelisation in America and "Theology of Indigenous Peoples".
(ANS – Ariccia) – After four days of meetings and reflections in the city of Ariccia, the work of the Team Visit for the Mediterranean Region ended on Friday, 6 October, in which the Provincial Councils of the Salesians in Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Middle East and North Africa, accompanied by the Rector Major and his Council, explored the topic "Building a future of hope" for the circumscriptions of this Region.
Livorno, Italy - September 2023 - Fr Stefano Aspettati, Superior of the Special Circumscription of Central Italy (ICC), presided over the Eucharistic celebration during which one Salesian of Don Bosco and five Daughters of Mary Help of Christians made their perpetual profession on 24th September in the Salesian Church of the Sacred Heart, in Livorno.
Ariccia, Italy - October 2023 - The work of the Team Visit of the Mediterranean Region ended today, 6 October, after four days of meetings and reflections in the city of Ariccia where, accompanied by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and his Council, the Provincial Councils of Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Middle East and North Africa examined the theme "Building a future of hope" for the Provinces of this Region. Fr Juan Carlos Pèrez Godoy, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region and in charge of presenting the Salesian work in this Region, gave a positive assessment of the work and all that was shared by the participants, explaining how the Visit took place in a typically Salesian serene and familiar atmosphere.
(ANS – Malaga) – In recent years, the initiatives of Salesian presences dedicated to the reception and integration of migrants and refugees have multiplied, especially in the countries bordering the Mediterranean. To reflect on these activities, unify strategies and respond to the needs of the people involved in these often dramatic processes, the National Youth Ministry Centres of Italy and Spain have decided to organise an international seminar focusing on this theme.
Messina, Italy - September 2023 - The new academic year at the St Thomas Aquinas Salesian Theological Institute was opened on Monday 25 September with a Mass celebrated by the Bishop of Patti, Guglielmo Giombanco, in the presence of the Faculty Director, Fr Giovanni Russo, and the Rector of the Community, Fr Giuseppe Cassaro, the religious men and women, the rectors of the seminaries in Messina and Patti, lecturers and students. A year of new awareness, to be lived through new perspectives: this is how Bishop Giombanco emphasised the relevance of theology, "capable of offering the truth that the world seeks even when it rejects it.” A study that is open to many promptings through which to better understand not only the demands of faith", the Bishop explained - a member of the St Thomas' board of management "but also to read the signs of the times, the great existential questions, the meaning of life, the struggle between good and evil, social responsibility and openness to new cultural scenarios". At the beginning of the Mass, animated by the young Salesians at St Thomas under the direction of Ignazio Coniglio and Emanuele Geraci, Fr Russo recalled the educational responsibility linked to the formation of young people who choose to undertake theological studies, in order to achieve objectives that are in keeping with their mission.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
