(ANS – Rome) – The solemn act of the Opening of the new 2023-2024 Academic Year of at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) will take place next Tuesday, 17 October 2023. An annual event, yet there are the ever fresh matters of scientific research, the students who enrol, the passion for education in the style of Don Bosco. The event will also involve the Rector Major of the Salesians and Grand Chancellor of the UPS, in what will be his first official visit to the UPS since his creation as cardinal.
(ANS – Rome) – Italy's Salesian National Office of Missionary Animation, following the worrying situation in the Middle East, is launching an invitation to once more and together invoke “Pacem in Terris”, on 11 October, the liturgical memorial of Saint John XXIII.
(ANS – Turin) – These days is a time for many innovations and firsts for the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco: since he was created Cardinal by Pope Francis on 30 September, a new form of ecclesial service has officially begun, in an even broader dimension than the already vast and demanding one that he has had as the 10th Successor of Don Bosco at the head of the Salesian Congregation. Among the most significant moments of this new direction in his new life, on Sunday, 15 October 2023, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime will preside at the altar of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in his first Mass as cardinal.
(ANS – Turin) – From 24 October to 24 December 2023, the Casa Don Bosco Museum in Valdocco, Turin will host the travelling exhibition entitled "Images of a vanished world. Fr. Alberto De Agostini. Man, nature, art, science", curated by Prof. (Fr.) Francesco Motto, SDB, from the Salesian Historical Institute in Rome, and by Prof. Nicola Bottiglieri, from the University of Cassino. The inaugural event of the exhibition will be held on 24 October 2023 at the Museum and will also involve the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime.
(ANS - Boretto) - On Sunday 8 October 2023, in a day full of symbolic and meaningful gestures, and after a heartwarming Eucharistic celebration participated in by the entire city community, the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, received the honorary citizenship of the municipality of Boretto, in the Province of Reggio Emilia, and thus became a fellow citizen of the 'most famous Boretto resident in the world', the Salesian lay Brother Saint Artemide Zatti.
(ANS – Boretto) – As a sign of homage to the first Salesian Brother proclaimed a saint by the Church – Saint Artemides Zatti – the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, went to Boretto, the saint's birthplace, on Saturday 7 October 2023, on the occasion of the first anniversary of his canonisation, which took place on 9 October 2022 in St Peter's Square.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
