Rome, Italy - October 2023 - Study days on Latin America's First Nations Peoples were held at the Salesian Zeffirino Namuncurá house in Rome from 4 to 6 October 2023. The community is made up of students of theology. Accepting the request of some Provincials who carry out missionary activities with first nations peoples, and taking into account preparation for the 150th anniversary of the First Missionary Expedition to Argentina, the Missions Sector proposed three days of study as an introductory core for all the participants of the 25th Ongoing Formation Course in Missionary Ministry 2023. The goal of this event was to offer the Salesians food for thought on Americas's first nations peoples. To facilitate the reflections, a number of people were invited, such as the members of the Salesian Historical Archives in South Argentina, Ms. Pamela Alarcón and Ms Pamela Alarcón and Fr Alejandro León, who presented a historical overview of the presence of Salesians among America's first nations peoples; Fr Justino Sarmento Rezende, who led the reflection on missionary practices among first nations people and its perspectives; Paulo Suess, a diocesan priest of German origin, a theologian and missionary for 60 years in Brazil with the theme of Re-reading Evangelisation in America and "Theology of Indigenous Peoples".
