(ANS - Savona) - In the joy of the Easter season and on the first day of the Novena of Mary Help of Christians, the diocesan phase of the Cause of Beatification of the Servant of God Vera Grita, Lay, Salesian Cooperator (1923-1969) closed on Sunday, May 15, at the shrine of Our Lady of Mercy in Savona. Relatives of the Servant of God, members of the Work of Living Tabernacles, and the Salesian Family, pilgrims and faithful at the shrine took part in the event. The Eucharistic celebration and closing session were presided over by Bishop Vittorio Lupi, Bishop Emeritus of Savona-Noli and episcopal delegate, who in his homily retraced Vera's human and spiritual story, recalling how "through Vera, Jesus seeks small, simple souls who are willing to put Jesus Eucharist at the center of their lives to allow themselves to be transformed by him into Living Tabernacles, that is, Eucharistic souls capable of a profound life of communion and giving to their brothers and sisters."

Fossano, Italy - May 2022 - On Wednesday, 11 May, the Salesian Vocational Training Center of Fossano contributed to the collection of basic necessities for the Ukrainian emergency organized by the Salesian Province of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta (ICP) through an initiative called "Peace, please." A provincial collection center for medicines and personal hygiene products has been operating at the Michele Rua Salesian house in Turin since last March 28. Thanks to the support of Prof. Luigi Oggero and several students of the Laboratories School and Training course, the students of the Salesian VTC brought various items: disinfectants, a box of band-aids, a packet of paracetamol... each student making a small donation for a bigger goal, with the promise not to forget all those who live in war and to do what they can to start building peace, beginning from daily life and relationships.

(ANS - Rome) - The Embassy of Israel to the Holy See and the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences "Auxilium" of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, given the importance that Israel and the Holy See attach to environmental issues and to raise awareness about the new global challenges facing humanity, have combined their expertise to organize an international symposium focused on the development of a global ecology from a feminine perspective, entitled: "Thinking green together: a feminine perspective on climate change and sustainability." The event is scheduled for next Tuesday, May 17, in Rome, at the Auxilium, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (UTC+2), and will also be streamed live on the Faculty's YouTube channel.

(ANS - Palermo) - Evangelizing and educating is like saying heart and proclamation. These are the keywords of the seminar to be held Friday, 13 May, and Saturday, May 14, in Palermo, organized by the Don Bosco School "Villa Ranchibile" to celebrate the Fourth Centenary of the death of St. Francis de Sales. The thematic node of the seminar, "From the intuition of St. Francis de Sales to the challenges of post-modernity: evangelize and educate" has its foundation in the Saint's phrase, "Nothing through constraint, all through love," taken as the diamond of the insights from specialists, bishops, and students.

Turin, Italy - May 2022 - On Sunday, May 8, the sixth meeting of the "Journey into the Heart of the World" 2021-2022 was held at the Mary Help of Christians Institute in which the young people who will go on mission this summer participated. The gathering was centered on the theme "Group Life in Mission": in the first part of the day, the groups worked on self-knowledge and recognizing themselves in Jesus, the model of missionary work, and the first missionary. In the afternoon they received some practical advice from Fr Fabio Mamino and other young people who have gone on a mission in past years. The day ended with a very important moment: the celebration of the missionary mandate presided over by Fr Leonardo Mancini, Superior of the Salesian Circumscription Piedmont and Aosta Valley (ICP), with the intervention of Sr. Emma Bergandi, FMA, IPI Provincial, during which the missionary cross was handed over to the 20 members of the three missionary groups who will leave this summer for Lithuania, Romania, and Albania.
