(ANS - Turin) - The 2022 edition of the World Council of the Salesian Family (Turin-Valdocco, May 20-22) was the most attended ever: 25 World Leaders of the various groups physically present, not counting that those who were unable to attend had a parallel program to live the experience even at a distance. The gathering was therefore a moment of high-level confrontation among those who identify Don Bosco at the roots of their charism; and, in this year that marks the 400th anniversary of St. Francis de Sales’ death, it allowed us to go back even further into the sources of Salesian spirituality, to the holy bishop of Geneva and his insights on goodness and visitation.
Turin, Italy - May 2022 - On May 21 in the church of Turin Valsalice, the diaconal ordination of Salesian Antonio Carriero (second from the right in the photo) was celebrated through the imposition of hands and consecratory prayer of Msgr. Enrico dal Covolo, SDB, titular bishop of Heraclea. Present were Fr Leonardo Mancini, Superior of the Piedmont and Aosta Valley Circumscription (ICP), and Fr Pier Mario Majnetti, Rector of the Salesian house in Valsalice.
(ANS - Turin) - A meeting will be held on Sunday, May 22, from 12 to 1 p.m. (UTC+2) at the Turin International Book Fair to tell about what the Salesians are doing in Ukraine to help the civilian population and in the neighboring countries where they are taking care of the reception. The City of Turin wanted to give a sign of closeness to the Ukrainian people in a booth called "City of Peace." The meeting titled "The choice is to stay together with the people" is organized by "Missioni Don Bosco," the Salesian Mission Office of Turin; and the Salesian NGO "Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo - VIS," as part of the broader coordination of Salesian entities that have joined forces to support on the ground the communities affected by the invasion and those displaced in neighboring countries.
Venice, Italy - May 2022 - On Sunday, May 15, 2022, 5,500 people took part in the traditional Solidarity Walk "Up and down for the Bridges of Venice," walking through the city streets and squares with a thought toward the Salesian mission of Quebrada Honda in Peru, the focus of this edition's solidarity project. The maximum number of available registration cards was reached, set at 5,500, in agreement between the organizing body TGS Eurogroup, an association promoted by the Salesian Province of San Marco Italy Northeast (INE), and the City of Venice. The departures, set at 15 minutes apart, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., at the same time in St. Mark's Square and at the Port of Venice, proved to be a winning choice, allowing precise control of the flow of participants and ensuring a more enjoyable experience for all. Prominent among the many messages of friendship and support for the event received in recent days were those from the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, and Sister Chiara Cazzuola, Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, who brought the best wishes and prayers of the entire Salesian Family.
