SPECIAL REPORTS
(ANS - Brasilia) - The main Christian holiday celebrates the resurrection of Christ: the victory of the Lord over death fills us with hope for a new life. For this reason, this celebration is surrounded by very special traditions and symbols. On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate what is at the center of their faith: Jesus Christ has conquered death and is risen! It is a message of love that is unprecedented and fills us with hope: it invites us to pass from darkness to light, from hatred to love, from selfishness to fraternity, from isolation to community, from sadness to joy.
(ANS - Córdoba) – The Salesian Constitutions express the responsibilities of the Salesians of Don Bosco. "Everyone - brothers and priests - is responsible for the common mission, and participates in it with the richness of his gifts and the lay and priestly characteristic of the one Salesian vocation." On this day, when the institution of the Eucharist is celebrated and the priests are remembered, the mystery and service of this vocation cannot be forgotten. For Giovannino Bosco, the priests of his time were sometimes indifferent and distant, too busy and important to devote time to children. This is why he said to himself: "If I were a priest, how I would like to approach children, talk to them and help them! I would feel very good if I could converse with my parish priest."
(ANS - Vatican City) - In its latest report on trafficking in persons, the United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention underscores that the vast majority of trafficking victims in the world "are women and girls" (72%). And the International Labor Organization estimates that nearly 21 million people are victims of forced labor globally. Pope Francis concluded yesterday, 11 April, the International Conference on the Trafficking of Persons, stating strongly that this sad phenomenon is a "crime against humanity", which "disfigures the humanity of the victim, offending his or her freedom and dignity", and that at the same time, "dehumanizes those who perform it."
(ANS – Liloan) – Since 2010, when the “Magone Home Aftercare Program” first opened, more than 150 young marginalized people have been transformed thanks to this new Don Bosco ministry in Cebu. Together with the Boys Home, Parish, Vocational Training Center, High School and Youth Center, this Program offers an integral environment for many youth in conflict with the law for a solid renewal of their life.
