(ANS – Salamanca) – After studying the final documents prepared by the five committees, the 2024 Provincial Chapter of Spain’s St James the Greater Province (SSM) Province, held from 31 March to 3 April 2024 in Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca), has concluded its work. Chapter members studied the two drafts of each of the prepared topics until they reached the final texts that were voted on the morning of Wednesday, 3 April. At the end of the work, the concluding Eucharist was celebrated by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
(ANS – Lviv) – From 1 to 7 April, a delegation from Missioni Don Bosco in Turin, and the Salesian NGO known as the Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo (VIS) will be in Ukraine, to show how close Salesians are to volunteers and the population in the country still under fire from Russian military action. This is solidarity that has been expressed since the outbreak of the war, in coordination with other Italian Salesian bodies of international solidarity, now being evaluated and with a new approach.
(ANS – Ngozi) – More than 1,600 students attending Don Bosco high schools in Ngozi and Buterere, Burundi, had access to better nutrition during the second half of 2023 thanks to a partnership between Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, and Rise Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organization growing a global movement to end hunger.
(ANS – Pindamonhangaba) – This year, 2024, the Salesian Family around the world is celebrating the 200th anniversary of a dream. Not just any dream, but the one at 9 years of age in which Jesus and Our Lady showed young John Bosco what his vocation was: to transform boys in difficulty into good boys. John Bosco had this dream in the house where he lived with his mother, two brothers and grandmother (his father died when he was only two years old). To commemorate this anniversary, the Salesians in Pindamonhangaba in the Province of Sao Paolo Brazil (BSP), are building a replica of Don Bosco's childhood home.
(ANS – Caracas) – After visits to the communities in Boleíta and Altamira, Fr Hugo Orozco, Councillor for the Interamerica Region, visited the Salesian community in Sarría on 17 and 18 March, characterised by a strong youth presence. Fr Orozco concluded the Extraordinary Visitation on 21 and 22 March at the Provincial headquarters, by sharing the current situation of the Province and highlighting the challenges to be faced and the need to continue building a lively Province committed to the Salesian mission.
(ANS – Naples) – The "Don Bosco" of Naples gave life to the event to celebrate an anniversary of great importance: the 90th anniversary of the arrival of the Salesians in the outskirts suburb of Doganella. Under the title of "EDUCATING THE HEART OF NAPLES, for 90 years on Via (di) Don Bosco", the commemoration came to life in the splendid setting of the court theatre of the Royal Palace of Naples on Tuesday, 26 March.
