(ANS – Catania) – The "Educational poverty: the Salesian presence and proposal in Sicily" Conference was held on Saturday, 6 April at the Don Bosco theatre in the Salesian Institute at Cibali, in Catania, promoted by the Salesians of the Saint Paul Province of Sicily (ISI) and by the Sicilian Territorial Committee of "Salesians for Social APS". At the end of the conference, this committee held its own meeting in order to renew its commitment and qualified dedication to the service of its beneficiaries.

(ANS – Ajjanahalli) – Salesian missionaries with Don Bosco Yuva Spandana (DB YES), located in Ajjanahalli in the Ramanagara District of Karnataka State, India, have built new bathrooms in a building that is being refurbished for a new youth empowerment center. Once fully operational, the center is expected to provide training and empowerment programs for 400 youth each year. Funding for the bathrooms was provided by Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

(ANS – Lubumbashi) – “Oeuvres Maman Marguerite”, a network of Salesian centers located in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, received a shipment of meals consisting of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and vitamins thanks to a partnership between Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, and “Rise Against Hunger”, an international humanitarian organization growing a global movement to end hunger. The shipment provided meals for five Salesian centers, feeding 600 youth during the second half of 2023.

(ANS – Seville ) – The San Isidoro Faculty of Theology of Seville hosted, on 4 -5 April, the 2nd Conference on Sport and Faith, organised by the Archdiocese of Seville in collaboration with the Salesian Congregation. About a hundred participants, including 30 from Salesian backgrounds, took part in this event, aimed in particular at operators linked to the Pastoral Care of Sport, namely teachers, coaches, catechists, priests, sportsmen and anyone involved in the educational-sports field. Executives, coaches and sportsmen of recognised prestige also participated.

(ANS – Rome) – In 2022, at the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Italian Salesian bodies active in international solidarity – the Salesian Mission Office in Turin, Missioni Don Bosco; the DON BOSCO NEL MONDO Foundation; the Foundation “Opera Don Bosco onlus" (Milan); the Foundation “Opera Don Bosco nel mondo” (Lugano) and the Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo NGO (VIS) – decided to coordinate their work to make their emergency response concrete in the face of the needs arising from the context of war. A series of projects thus came into existence, that over these two years have accompanied the Salesians and the local population to cope with the particularly heavy situations they have had to endure.
