(ANS – Turin) – On October 5, 2024, the fourth day of their extraordinary general assembly, the 200 delegates of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association, visited the places associated with Don Bosco on Saturday. They visited Chieri and Colle Don Bosco from where Don Bosco himself had envisioned the future. On the last day, the elections for the new office bearers and the final concluding ceremony took place.
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Fr. Hugo Orozco, Regional Councilor for Interamerica, arrived in New Rochelle in the wee hours of Tuesday, October 1. A few hours later, he began the 2024 extraordinary visitation of the province of St. Philip the Apostle, meeting with the provincial council and then beginning personal interviews with members of the provincial house community, the first house on his itinerary.
(ANS – New York) - Young filmmakers from around the globe will highlight their creativity through original, short films about how to take positive action to combat climate change during the grand finale of the third edition of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF 2024). The film festival will take place from 5-9 p.m Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at the Loreto Theater inside the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture at 18 Bleecker Street, NY. General admission tickets are free but should be reserved online through the Sheen Center's website at sheencenter.org.
(ANS – Beirut) – The situation in the Middle East worsens day by day. Added to the conflict in Gaza are the bombings in southern Lebanon. Thousands of people have lost their lives or have been injured and more than a million have been forced to flee their homes due to the attacks. “At the Salesian school in El Houssun, Lebanon, we are already taking in more than a hundred displaced people. They arrive with nothing and we do everything possible to give them our help and a safe place, ” the Salesians in the region explain.
(ANS – Turin) – Expectation in the Valdocco courtyard, at the Salesian Mother House, for the unveliing of the monument to Carlo Gastini, which will take place at 6 pm (UTC+2) today, Friday 4 October 2024. The bronze high relief, sculpted by Mauro Baldessari, was something all Past Pupils around the world wanted. Through their donations they wanted to express their gratitude to the Father, Teacher and Friend of all young people around the world, Saint John Bosco.
