(ANS – Bangkok) – On 6 October 2024, Fr Joseph Nguyen Thinh Phuoc, Councillor for the East Asia-Oceania Region, arrived in Thailand. He was welcomed at the airport by the Provincial Fr Boonlert Paneetatthayasai and at the Provincial house by the present Salesians as well by the Bishop emeritus of Surat Thani diocese Bishop Joseph Prathan, SDB.
(ANS – Nazareth) – Although in principle legal rights are the same for all Israeli citizens, almost all cities and villages inhabited by Arabs experience significantly poorer living conditions than their Jewish counterparts. These communities face numerous challenges, including lower levels of formal education and a range of socio-economic problems. The Christian population is mainly concentrated in the northern district and in Haifa, and Nazareth, where the Salesian community is located, which has a population of almost 30,000 inhabitants.
(ANS - Rome) - The presentation of the new “DON BOSCO NEL MONDO Foundation” website, a body of international solidarity of the Congregation of Salesians of Don Bosco, a direct emanation of the General Council and, as such, body charged with transforming the charism of Don Bosco into work, took place on Tuesday 8 October at San Tarcisio in Rome.
(ANS – Kochi) – The Don Bosco Young at Risk (YaR) Forum recently concluded its Annual Seminar 2024 on the theme “Empowering Families and Communities Towards Caring for Children and Young at Risk.” The two-day event, held from 3-4 October at the Alpha Pastoral Centre in Kochi, Kerala, brought together child welfare experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches to family-based care for vulnerable youth.
(ANS – Scutari) – A new chapter in the history of the Salesian mission and the Blessed Michael Rua Province of Southern Italy was written on 5 and 6 October 2024 in Scutari, where the first Assembly of the Provincial Delegation including Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro (AKM) was held. The event brought together the 22 Salesians in these three Balkan countries, from the Salesian works in Gjilan, Lushnjë, Pristina, Podgorica, Scutari, and Tirana.
(ANS – Manzini) – From 3-6 October 2024, 50 Salesian Cooperators and aspirants, from all three Southern African countries of AFM province (eSwatini, Lesotho and South Africa), met in Manzini (eSwatini) for the first time in their more than 100 year history. One of the largest group of the Salesian Family is preparing with renewed drive for formation for their 150th anniversary of foundation in 2026.
