(ANS – Cape Town) – October marks Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shedding light on the importance of mental well-being. For organizations like the Salesian Institute Youth Projects (SIYP), this is a particularly crucial period to highlight the essential role of psychosocial support in its holistic formation methodology. This approach ensures that every young person attending Salesian programmes receives the support needed to overcome and cope with challenges, whether they stem from socio-economic hardships or psychosocial struggles.
(ANS - Belo Horizonte) – The Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF), the world-class Salesian youth film festival, in addition to encouraging the creativity and critical thinking of young filmmakers, provided a collaborative learning environment on issues essential for communities and for the whole world, and reaffirmed the Salesian commitment to integral education. In the Saint John Bosco Salesian Province of Belo Horizonterazil (BBH) there were several works that actively participated in the event.
(ANS – Vitoria-Gasteiz) – The "OIKOS-Somos Casa" project is a playful Salesian formation initiative resulting from the desire to make known the fundamental concepts, differences and common points of the main religions that live together in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. Financially supported by the Pluralism and Coexistence Foundation of the Spanish Government, through a call that promotes dialogue and inter-religious coexistence, it represents an educational intervention for young people, created by young people themselves.
(ANS – Kankan) – On November 1, 2023, the 15th edition of the annual event "Race of the Saints" took place. This running competition through Rome’s beautiful central streets combines sports, religious traditions, and solidarity. It had helped highlight the Salesian mission in Kankan, Guinea Conakry, and raised donations to improve the sports facilities at its Vocational Training Center. Nearly a year later, the positive results are evident.
(ANS – San Francisco) – On October 17, 2024, the San Francisco Province took a significant step toward enhancing leadership and collaboration within its communities by hosting a virtual coaching training session led by Fr. Mel Trinidad. The session brought together province leaders, including Community Directors, Coordinators of Youth Ministry (CYMs), Principals, Pastors, and Executive Directors, to explore the benefits of coaching and learn hands-on techniques that could be directly applied to their work.
(ANS – Ayacucho) – The city of Ayacucho, located in south-central Peru at 3150 m above seal level, hosted the "1st Meeting of the Network of Salesian School Symphony Bands" (REBASES), a fraternal event that aimed to promote the exchange of experiences and artistic and musical learning between students and teachers of the various symphony bands in Salesian Schools.
