With a total of 118 students on stage, the three Salesian schools: San Francisco de Sales, in Breña (Lima), Cusco and Ayacucho, prepared day and night to offer a concert at the Salesian San Juan Bosco College Colosseum and in the Cathedral Basilica in Ayacucho.
The Colosseum was a true Salesian celebration!
In the presence of educators and parents, Fr Jorge Atarama, rector of the Salesian Community in Ayacucho, said that this meeting intends to shape a school symphonic music association within our Salesian schools, as a secretariat within the Salesian Network of Schools (CSR), to strengthen and encourage their teaching.
In his message, he also stressed the importance of this concert, since it coincides with the commemoration of two important anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the creation of the first Salesian Band of Ayacucho and the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho.
"A house without music is like a body without a soul". Fr Juan Pablo Alcas, Provincial, began his message and reflection with this significant phrase, which expressed the moment. Through his words, he greeted and congratulated the entire Educative and Pastoral Community for the organisation, especially recognising the student members of the Salesian bands who participated with great enthusiasm and responsibility.
Concert in the Cathedral Basilica in Ayacucho
With an emotional concert in the Cathedral Basilica in Ayacucho, our students culminated their participation in the 1st. Meeting of Salesian Symphonic Bands. This concert was the finishing touch, bringing a close to days full of joy, enthusiasm, talent and, above all, Salesianity.
Before concluding the presentation, the Archbishop of Ayacucho, Archbishop Salvador Piñeiro, spoke, congratulating the young people for their skill and, above all, for representing the Salesians of Don Bosco in the best way.
