Gniezno-Poznań, Poland - April 2016 - From 14 to 16 April, in the oldest Polish capital, Gniezno, and in Poznań, solemn official, civil and religious celebrations are being held for the 1050th anniversary of the baptism of Poland The celebrations include the National Assembly of the two Houses of Parliament, with the participation of the President of the Republic. Also participating is the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin as papal legate. 

(ANS - Rome) - The first ever seminar to promote the causes of beatification and canonization of the Salesian Family concluded on Sunday 10 April. Symbolically, the final act, was the chanting of the litany of the saints and blessed of the Salesian Family.

(ANS - Rome) - Salesian Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, presided yesterday, Thursday 8 April, at the concelebrated Mass that opened the second day of the seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization in the Salesian family.

(ANS - Rome) –Yesterday 6 April there was a touching celebration which culminated in the enthronement of a distinguished relic of Don Bosco. It marked the opening of the first ever seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization. It is being given by the Postulator General, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, and is being held at the Generalate of the Congregation in Rome.

(ANS - Rome) - To enhance the spiritual, pastoral and educational heritage of holiness born of Don Bosco; to offer guidelines and best practices for promoting the causes of candidates for canonized sainthood in the Salesian Family; to help in investigating and following up alleged miracles; and to understand the true meaning and purpose of a canonization process - these are some of the ambitious goals of the Seminar to promote the causes of beatification and canonization of the Salesian Family to be held at the Salesianum in Rome, from 6 to 10 April.

 (ANS - Berlin) – “I have the greatest respect” for all those involved in Don-Bosco-Zentrum. This is what the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, said during her visit to the Salesian Centre on Tuesday 22 March.  "This is something that we cannot regulate by law,” she said in front of more than 80 journalists. “We can make available a basic subsidy, but taking into account every situation of life is a service that politics alone is incapable of. It needs people with a big heart.”

(ANS - Roma) - The meeting of the Salesian Masters of Novices concluded at the Generalate on Saturday 12 March. This was a first group of Salesians engaged in formation who spent two full and intensive weeks sharing experiences, prayer, fraternity and the study of the specific issues related to the ministry of formation.
