The launching opened with the singing of the national anthem that was immediately followed by the Solemn Invocation of Fr. Renato De Guzman, SDB, the Deputy Chancellor for Pastoral Affairs. Fr. Jose Lorbeth Vivo, SDB, the Chancellor of the DBEC, formally welcomed everyone with his opening address.
Through a video presentation, the history and the rationale of the DBEC was presented by Fr. Vitaliano Chito Dimaranan, SDB, the Rector of Don Bosco Technical College – Mandaluyong City and the DBEC Director for Higher Education Institution (HEI).
The event was graced by the presence of the Chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education, Bishop Roberto C. Mallari, DD of the Diocese of San Jose, Nueva Ecija, who gave the Inspirational Message on the value of Christian Education in the country, especially in the formation of its youth.
After the inspirational message of Bishop Mallari, Fr. Anthony Paul Bicomong, SDB, the Provincial Superior of the SDB Philippines-North Province, addressed the assembly with his keynote address.
The Don Bosco Academy – Bacolor Pampanga Choir serenaded everyone during the formal signing of the Securities and Exchange Commission Registration by the members of the DBEC Board of Trustees and the signing of the Book of Membership by the Directors of the different Don Bosco schools and TVET Centers.
The delegation from the Salesians of Don Bosco of the Philippines – South Province (FIS) made the event even more meaningful. Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, the Provincial Superior of the FIS, was present as were Fr. Cesar Manlosa, SDB, the FIS School Superintendent, and Fr. Joriz Calsa, SDB, the FIS Head of the Commission on Youth Ministry.
The SM Foundation Executive Director for Education Program, Mrs. Carmen Linda Atayde, took time out from her very busy schedule to personally witness the official launching of DBEC. The SM Foundation is one of the major supporters of the works of the Salesians of Don Bosco for the poor and the marginalized youth.
This launching is a celebration for the youth of our nation. DBEC shares in the Catholic Church’s goal of new evangelization. At Don Bosco, we “educate by evangelizing, and we evangelize by educating.” Committed to inculcating the core values of SPIRITUALITY for Faith, INTEGRITY for Character & and COMPETENCE for Productivity, DBEC sets out working on the best practices established over the years, towards the pursuit of cutting-edge technological and technical education.
DBEC believes that its best contribution to nation-building is in accompanying the youth in becoming good Christians and upright citizens. Indeed, Don Bosco Educational Centers-Philippines, Inc. “educate for life.”
