Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - April 28, 2017 - A meeting of the Salesian Brothers of the Vietnam Province (VIE) was held, six years after the previous meeting.. There were 40 participants. The meeting was led by Fr Joseph Phuoc, Brother Dominic Nam and Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for the East Asia-Oceania Region.

Brindisi, Italy - May 2017 – On Saturday 13 May, in the Sacred Heart parish of the Salesians in Brindisi, the Salesian Antonio Maria Lopez was ordained priest through the imposition of hands and the prayer of ordination by Archbishop. Domenico Caliandro of Brindisi-Ostuni.

Rwanda - Missionary and Vocations Day

Kigali, Rwanda - May 2017 – To revive the missionary dimension among the Salesians, the Vice-Province of Africa Great Lakes (AGL) organized a Missionary and Vocations Day on 14 May. The event was attended by Salesians, young people from various works and missionary volunteers, who gave their testimony of missionary life. Fr Camiel Swertvagher, Superior of AGL was among those present.

Zway, Ethiopia - May 2017 - In the second week of May over 200 young people from the Salesian Youth Movement of the Vice-Province of Africa- Ethiopia (AET) attended a meeting on the theme of the Rector Major’s Strenna "We are Family! Every House, a School of Life and Love. "

Madrid, Spain - May 2017 – At a meeting on 19 April, the Provincial Councillors of the Provinces of St James the Greater in Madrid and Mary Help of Christians in Seville approved the digitization of over 30,000 pages of the Salesian Bulletin of Spain from 1886 to the present. Bound copies of the Salesian Bulletin exist, but today computer science allows fast and secure access to whatever content one may wish to consult. This requires a process to transform a written text into digital form so as to create a digital archive, and then to install a search engine for consultations. It is a highly innovative project.

Copacabana, Colombia - May 2017 - During the 4th Continental Meeting of the Salesian School in America (ESA IV), Fr René Antonio Santos, SDB, was officially appointed as the new coordinator for the Salesian Schools of America. His role is to accompany the situation in the continent with formation courses of reflection and study on the issues of evangelization and education that concern the school. Fr Santos will have the task of bringing continuity to the projects of Fr Miguel Ángel García, who preceded him in the job. What's new is that, though the assignment is part of the Office for Schools and Professional Formation Centres in the Youth Ministry Department, Fr Santos will be based in Central America. Fr Fabio Attard, Councillor General for Youth Ministry, asked the Regional Councillors for Inter-America and the American Southern Cone to appoint Fr Santos, with the approval of his Provincial.
