Guatemala City, Guatemala - August 2017 - On August 27 at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of the Collegio Don Bosco, Msgr. Óscar Julio Vian Morales, SDB, archbishop of Santiago de Guatemala, presided over the diaconal ordinations of the Salesians Daniel García and Josué Saborío.
Melbourne, Australia - August 2017 - From August 25 to 28, 15 Salesian Youths, of nine different nationalities, seven Provinces, Vice-Provinces and Delegations of the East Asia-Oceania Region, participated in the annual Formation Meeting of the Salesians currently serving their five-year term. The training program was led by Fr. Frank Moloney, Fr. Bernie Graham; the concluding Eucharistic Celebration was by Fr Greg Chambers, Provincial of Australia.
Bangalore, India - August 2017 - On August 19 and 20, the training program for leaders and animators of the Salesian Youth Movement of South Asia took place with 75 participants from Trichy, Chennai and Bangalore Provinces.
Brasilia, Brazil - August 2017 – The Fourth National Congress of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) was held August 25 - 27 in commemoration of its 20 years of existence in the country. 300 young people from all regions of Brazil participated in the event to mark their identities as members of the SYM and expand their knowledge with workshops and training sessions prepared by representatives of each Salesian Province. At the end of the congress, the young people attended the "Don Bosco Walk"; they accompanied the Urn of Don Bosco from the Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia to the Don Bosco Shrine, where the crypt was inaugurated.
Goma, D.R. Congo - August 2017 - 17 to 20 August, the dates of the first edition of the Salesian Forum of Youth of the DR Congo-East area, of the Salesian Province of Central Africa (AFC). It focused on the theme of the Rector Major's Strenna 2017: "We are Family! Every Home, a School of Life and Love." The event, with its many activities, was attended by 150 young people from several Salesian centers and was animated by the Youth Ministry team and the leaders of the Salesian Youth Movement.
K'Long, Vietnam - August 2017 - From August 17th to August 30th, Fr Fabio Attard, Youth Ministry Councilor, is on an Animation Visit through the Vietnam Province. During the day, Fr Attard has been leading spiritual exercises with the Provincial Council and community leaders as well as conducting workshops to study and discuss the Salesian Youth Ministry Framework.
