Belo Horizonte, Brazil - July 2017 - From 19 to 23 July, the Salesian Missionary Week took place in the Belo Horizonte Province (BBH) on the theme: "The First Announcement and Indigenous Peoples of America." Over 500 young people and educators participated in activities across 13 cities with the aim of enjoying a real missionary experience among people, with various moments for spirituality, visits to and blessings of families, volunteer work and recreational activities with children, young people and teenagers in the local Salesian centers.
Yogjakarta, Indonesia - August 2017 - From July 30 to August 6, Yogjakarta holds the 7th Asian Youth Day on the theme: "Celebrate Diversity." Over two thousand people from 25 countries participated. Among the attendees: delegations of the Salesian Youth Movement of the Salesian Works and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians from the East Asia-Oceania Region including a Delegation of Mongolia composed of a Salesian and 21 young people.
Camagüey, Cuba - July 2017 - On July 22, Maykel Gómez Hernández made Perpetual Profession as Salesian. The Eucharist was presided over by Fr Juan Suriel, Vicar of the Antilles Province.
Villarrica, Paraguay - August 2017 - On 1 August, all the Salesian Presences of Paraguay began the month dedicated to celebrating Don Bosco. In the picture, the activities in the Salesian College of Villarrica.
Tiruchy, India - August 2017 - The Salesian Family of the Tiruchy Province organized a “Rajya Puraskar Award” Training Camp with 160 Scouts and Guides participating. It took place at the Don Bosco School - Surya Nagar Madurai from 26 to 30 July and was Coordinated by Fr John Barnabas, Provincial delegate for Scouts and guides.
Nairobi, Kenya - July 2017 - On July 29, a Laboratory for Solar and Electrical Technology was inaugurated at the “Don Bosco Boys' Town” Technical Institute in Nairobi, the result of an agreement between the Institute and the “Schneider Electric Foundation." The agreement includes the complete restructuring of existing plants, equipment and consumables, staff training on solar technology and on curriculum development tailored to meeting the needs of local youth and of industry. Attending the inaugural ceremony: the local community, Fr. Gianni Rolandi, who will be leaving his post as Africa East Provincial (AFE); Fr Simon Asira Lipuku, the new AFE Provincial appointed by the Rector Major and his Council; French Ambassador, Antoine Sivan; and Schneider Electric CEO, Jean-Pascal Tricoire.
