Ljubljana Rakovnik, Slovenia - 26 September 2018 - At the beginning of the school year, the directors of the 12 Salesian communities of the Province of Slovenia (SLO) met at the Salesian HQ in Slovenia. At the meeting, chaired and led by Fr Marko Košnik, SLO Provincial, several directors from outside the Salesian communities of SLO were also present: Italy (Opicina), Serbia (Mužlja) and Montenegro (Podgorica). The themes of the meeting were the preparation for the Provincial Chapter 25 in view of the General Chapter 28; the role of the Salesian director in the community, and some notes on the importance of the Salesian director given by the Rector Major.
Campo Grande, Brazil - September 2018 – Taking place from September 24 to 28, at the Catholic University Don Bosco in Campo Grande, was the course for leaders of the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS), from Europe, Africa and America. Led by Fr Marcelo Farfán, IUS General Coordinator, the event addresses issues such as the global context of Higher Education, management tools, ethics and institutional models.
Krakow, Poland - September 2018 - From September 21 to 23, at the Salesian Theological Studentate in Krakow, the III Congress of Salesian Schools Directors was held, coordinated by Fr Zenon Latawiec, SDB, President of the Council of Catholic Schools in Poland. 26 Salesian directors and 34 FMA directors from schools in Poland took part, with about 14,000 students and 1,600 employees under their care. Also present were the Provincials and Superiors of the SDB and FMA Polish provinces. This year's meeting was dedicated to topics concerning the formation of teachers and educators and the mass media. On 22 September, the Archbishop of Krakow, Msgr. Marek Jędraszewski, presided over the Eucharist.
Hua Hin, Thailand - September 16, 2018 - At the church of Santa Teresa in Hua Hin, the annual meeting of the "Family Movement" took place, presided over by Msgr. Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, SDB, bishop of Surat Thani. The meeting, which lasted three days, was attended by 370 delegates, who shared the family apostolate that they carried out in 10 dioceses of the country. The "Family Movement" was born in the parish of St. Joseph in Banpong Ratburi, in 1981, by the Salesian Fr. John Ulliano who began a seminar with 7 couples. Today, the movement consists of 16,500 couples throughout Thailand.
San Benito Petén, Guatemala - September 2018 - The parish of San Benito Petén is at the forefront of welcoming the many migrants fleeing to Mexico and the United States because of the violence and persecution in their countries. Every year, on the first Sunday of September, the parish organizes various initiatives to sensitize the population on the theme: fun, spiritual and educational activities, including a marathon through the city streets, are just some of the activities.
Kathmandu, Nepal - September 2018 - 21 young Salesians in their five-year session, and belonging to the Calcutta Province (INC), gathered in Kathmandu to reflect on their consecrated life, accompanied by the Provincial, by the INC Provincial Vicar, and by Fr Tomy Augustine. The participants expressed great satisfaction for having taken part in the meeting in Nepal, a missionary frontier of the Salesian Congregation. Fr Augusty Pulickal, coordinator in the mission in Nepal, stressed the need to move with a concerted effort for this mission's large territory.
