Vajnory, Slovakia - September 2018 - In Vajnory, the birthplace of Blessed Titus Zeman, on the day of the first anniversary of his beatification, on September 30, the first statue dedicated to him in Slovakia was presented. The Mass in the parish church was celebrated by the Archbishop of Bratislava, Msgr. Stanislav Zvolenský, together with various concelebrants, including the Apostolic Prefect of Azerbaijan, Mgr. Vladimír Fekete, SDB, and the Provincial of the Salesian Province of Slovakia, Fr Jozef Ižold, SDB. Also present, the relatives of Blessed Zeman, Salesians, members of the Salesian Family and many faithful of Vajnory. The statue was placed in front of the parish church, in the same place where the blessed celebrated his first Mass in 1940. Creator of the project of the statue was the grandson of Blessed Zeman, Michal Titus Radošinský, who inaugurated it together with two of the blessed's students, Ján Brichta and Augustín Krivosudský.
Fatima, Portugal - September 2018 - On September 22, the III Provincial Congress of Salesian Cooperators of Portugal took place on the theme "The vocation of the Salesian Cooperator, the path of holiness". About 86 Salesian Cooperators took part in the meeting, with their local delegates representing 16 out of the 20 centers in the country. Present were the World Councilor of Salesian Cooperators for the Iberian Region, Raúl Fernández, and the Delegates for the Salesian Family of the Iberian Region of the Salesians, Fr Luís Fernando Alvarez, and of the FMA, Sr. Isabel Perez.
Bangalore, India - September 2018 - As part of the World Cleanup Day, the day dedicated to environmental cleanup which is celebrated across the globe on September 15, the Don Bosco Network of the Salesian Province of Bangalore (INK) organized various activities. The Salesian institutions in Karnataka and Kerala through BREADS - Bangalore, launched cleanup initiatives in eight districts of Karnataka and a district of Kerala. Among the various activities, the "Don Bosco Hospet" began the cleaning and collection of waste with the inhabitants of the villages of Hallikere, Kamalapura and Hospet Taluk; 80 young teachers and parents of the government primary school participated in cleaning the campus and the surrounding areas; the staff and the volunteers of the "Don Bosco Bidar" cleaned the BRIMS hospital, spreading messages for the protection of the environment among the people; the "Bosco Bangalore", "Bosco Nilaya", "Nivas" and "Bosco Life Skill Training Center" in Sumanahalli cleaned their areas; the children and the staff of the "Child Rights Club" organized an event in the streets to raise awareness and remove waste out of school.
Kathmandu, Nepal - September 2018 - On September 16, 38 students from the "Don Bosco Thecho" Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kathmandu, graduated in Electrical Engineering. This is the first group of students that completes the three-year course of the Don Bosco Institute, which also offers 11 non-formal courses, with affiliation to the National Council of Technical Education, and which is launching courses in Computer Science, Civil Engineering and Hotel Industry disciplines.
Caracas, Venezuela - September 2018 - On 29 September in the shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Sarría, Caracas, Fr Nelsón Rodríguez, Provincial Delegate for Missionary Animation and Fr Darwin Vásquez, Provincial Delegate for Vocational Animation, celebrated the Eucharist of the missionary envoy of 15 young volunteers to the various Salesian centers in the country. For a year the young missionary volunteers received formation and spiritual accompaniment in preparation for the pastoral work that will be carried out in favor of the young.
