(ANS - Rome) – Let's meet in Madrid! From November 27 to December 1, 2017, approximately 400 people representing all the Provinces of the worldwide Salesian Congregation shall meet in Madrid, Spain, to celebrate the International Congress on Youth Ministry and Family, the first step of a pastoral process animated by the Dicastery for Salesian Youth Ministry in light of the recent synodal path of the Church and of the post-synodal apostolic exhortation "Amoris Laetitia". An official video is now available that briefly describes the content and methodology of the Congress.
(ANS - Les Cayes) - According to CNN journalist Laila Abu Shihab, "Haiti seems destined to not be able to recover from natural disasters which time after time, while still fighting for the devastation of the previous catastrophe, fall on the country like parasites and leave the country devastated." All sadly true, as many places have remained in the state they were in, destroyed by calamities.
(ANS - Mato Grosso) - The Bororo, also known as "Parrudos", are an indigenous people of Brazil's Amazon state of Mato Grosso who distinguish themselves as producers of handicrafts and body paintings of great artistry. The Xavantes are another ethnic Amerindian group living in Mato Grosso; numbering about 800, they define themselves as "real people," and practice ear piercing as an initiatory rite. For years, the Salesians have held their pastoral missions with both the Bororo and the Xavantes, two culturally and historically distant communities.
