Shillong, India – March 2025 – On March 11, the Salesians of the India-Shillong Province (INS) gathered at the provincial house to bid farewell to Fr. Hubert Thyrniang, a missionary departing for Benin in North West Africa (AON). To mark this significant occasion, Fr. Hubert himself celebrated the Eucharist, offering thanks to God for his missionary vocation and seeking His blessing for the journey and mission ahead. He also expressed deep gratitude to the INS Province for the Salesian life he had lived with zeal. He thanked his confreres for their friendship, support, and guidance, which had helped him fulfill his ardent desire to become a missionary. Originally from Rangblang Parish in the South West Khasi Hills, Fr. Hubert embraced the missionary life as a response to a deep vocation that took root during his theological studies. At the conclusion of the farewell gathering, the Salesians of INS congratulated Fr. Hubert and shared a fraternal agape meal in his honor.
