(ANS - Rome) - After eight years of dedicated service (summer 2013 - summer 2021), Bro. José Luis Muñoz, SDB, has left his role as Director of the Salesian iNfo Agency (ANS) and has just reached his new destination, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Three World Youth Days (Rio de Janeiro 2013, Krakow 2016, Panama 2019), two General Chapters, the Bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, a pandemic, extraordinary events such as the kidnapping and release of Fr Tom Uzhunnalil or the theft and the discovery of the relic of Don Bosco from the Temple of Colle Don Bosco are just some of the many challenges faced and overcome in this period of time.
(ANS – Roma) – The “LEADS” (leaders) of Salesian Youth Movement from INTER-AMERICA - AMERICA SOUTH CONE - AFRICA-MADAGASCAR - SOUTH ASIA - EAST ASIA OCEANIA come together for the first time on ZOOM for their “PLAN LAUNCH”. It will take place on 31 JULY 2021 @ 14.30 (Rome time).
(ANS - Rome) - From 25 to 27 July, at the "San Tarcisio" house in Rome, 18 Salesians met for an in-depth seminar on the centrality of the Eucharist in the Salesian charism, starting from the writings and testimony of the Servant of God Vera Grita, Salesian Cooperator. The meeting, coordinated by Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, concluded the online initiative of the 28th General Chapter of the Congregation on the "Salesian sacrament of presence" organized by the study center “Opera dei Tabernacoli Viventi” and by the Conference of the Provinces of Italy (CISI) Formation sector. The theme developed focused on the centrality of union with God through the permanent presence of Jesus in being voluntarily among the young.
(ANS - Rome) - The Salesian Social America Network is part of the Youth Ministry Sector, and is the network of social works and services that deal with children and young people at high risk of social exclusion in America. Its objective is to consolidate the coordinated work between the Salesian social works, with the aim of improving the quality of the response of the Salesian Congregation to this segment of the population.
(ANS - Rome) - At the end of the General Council's summer plenary session, the agenda of the General Councilors for the forthcoming months was also drawn up. Numerous commitments await the Rector Major and his first collaborators in the task of animating and governing the Congregation.
(ANS - Rome) - A moment of presentation of the work carried out over the last two months, of fraternal sharing with the Salesians of the Salesian HQ community, and a moment of reflection on the path that the Congregation is taking: all this was the "goodnight" the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, offered yesterday, July 27, at the end of the summer plenary session of the General Council, which began last June 1.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
