(ANS - Rome) - Yesterday, 2 February. the documentary "Alto el fuego" (Ceasefire) was shown in Rome to a large audience of journalists. The film was made by "Misiones Salesianas" in Madrid in collaboration with the Salesian House "Ciudad Don Bosco" in Medellin, Colombia. After the screening of the documentary, many questions were put to the two former child soldiers present, Manuel and Catalina (fictitious names). "Catalina, did you decide to join FARC? Why did you leave it?" - "Yes. I decided to join and I decided to leave … "

(ANS - Rome) - In preparation for the European gathering of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), scheduled to take place from 11 to 16 August 2017, the coordinators from the so-called "Small Team SYM Europe" have unveiled the logo for the event. The logo is in three parts representing a set of arrows - blue representing vision, red for passion and yellow for mission. The three parts can also be seen as referring to the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Thus asserts the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, in a letter he sent to the Salesians and to those Responsible of the groups of the Salesian Family on the occasion of the Venerability of the Servants of God Fr. Francesco Convertini, Salesian missionary in India, and of Fr. Josè Vech Vandor, Salesian missionary in Cuba.
(ANS – Rome) – Turin in the Bicentenary year 2015; Freetown free from Ebola, but still buffeted by its effects in 2016; and for this year 2017, the city of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, because of the 100 years of Salesian presence in the Antilles. The Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, continues to choose very significant places to celebrate the feast of St. John Bosco (January 31st). The tenth Successor of Don Bosco will leave on Monday 30th on his Animation Visit that will comprise, till February 5th, also Porto Rico and Cuba.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
