(ANS - Rome) - Venerable Dorothy De Chopitea, wife and mother of six children, was the first Salesian Cooperator whose cause for beatification was introduced. She was one of the very few people whom Don Bosco called “mamma”. She was truly a mother to everyone, always ready to help. No fewer than 31 foundations were started thanks to her generosity.
Rome, Italy - June 2016 - The summer session of the General Council began on 30 May and will end on 22 July.
(ANS - Rome) - Opening the pages of the newspapers and seeing the plight of children around the world creates a sense of hopelessness. The news is depressing for those who care about the world of children. "The child population as a whole is the subject of serious violations: abduction, sexual violence, child marriages and forced recruitment." If we stop to think, a second thought comes immediately. What is happening? How can we tolerate such suffering? Indifference has globalized, said Pope Francis, becoming a "selfish attitude of indifference that has achieved a global dimension."
(ANS - Rome) - New logo, new interface, better integration between text, images and video, a renewed focus on the socialization of messages ... Since 15 March last the site of the Salesian Info Agency has changed radically. Alongside the innovations there are still a few proven instruments, such as the photographic archive "IMAGE BANK". The mission is the same: "to share the good things" that the Salesians are doing in the world and in this way to be a tool for the spread of the charism.
(ANS - Rome) - One of the forces leading the Salesian charism in the world is the Salesian Family. "Every time I go around the world, I see first-hand that the charism of Don Bosco is fully alive," says Fr Eusebio Muñoz, Secretary of the Salesian Family, the man who convened the World Consultative Body.
(ANS - Rome) - "Loving poverty is solidarity, sharing and charity and is expressed in moderation, in the quest for justice and in taking joy in the essential." So said Pope Francis in a message of 8 March 2014. The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, took that as his starting point in the talk he gave yesterday at the 87th Bi-annual Assembly of the Union of Superiors General, which ends today, Friday 27 May, at the Salesianum in Rome.
