(ANS - Rome) – Two-week of waiting, with investigating authorities working professionally and silently and hundreds of thousands of Don Bosco's faithful and sympathizers praying, and yesterday, Thursday, June 15, the ampoule containing a part of Don Bosco's brain was found. The news was met with a huge sigh of relief, a happy ending of the affair; great, indeed, the joy and gratitude of the entire Salesian Family.
(ANS - Rome) - The Salesian Rector Major, Don Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of the General Council, has nominated Fr. Justo Ernesto Piccinini as the next Provincial of the "Maria Ausiliatrice" Brasil-São Paulo (BSP) Province.
(ANS - Rome) - Yesterday, June 12, was the International Day Against Child Labor. Promoted by the International Labor Organization (ILO), its aim is to raise awareness of this issue and fight this plague present across the globe, and especially in the poorest countries. In 2017, as per ILO guidelines, the day was devoted to "children in conflict countries."
(ANS - Rome) – Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, with the consent of his council, appointed Fr Alfonso Bauer as Provincial of Uruguay's "San Giuseppe" Province for the six-year period between 2018-2023.
Rome, Italy - June 9, 2017 - Chaired by the Rector Major, Don Ángel Fernández Artime, the Plenary Session of the General Council began on 5 June. On the agenda: appointment of 9 new Provincials, reports of Extraordinary Visits, study and analysis of various issues pertaining to the Salesian Congregation, accompaniment of the new Provincials participating in the training course, Spiritual Exercises, and the Joint Meeting with the General Council of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The plenary session of the General Council ends 27 July.
(ANS - Rome) - On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the martyrdom of the five young oratorians of Poznań - which took place in Dresden on 24 August 1942 - and as we approach the 18th anniversary of their beatification - celebrated by Pope John Paul II in Warsaw on 13 June 1999 - the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, travels to Poznań to commemorate the martyrs and their testimony.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
