In his name and spirit, Don Bosco was inspired in founding the Salesian congregation and the Salesian Family, whose main focus regarded the growth and education of young generations, with special attention to the care of children from less-affluent classes; he, furthermore, preferred the method of dialogue and gentleness based on happiness, kindness and love.
Rome, Italy - August 2017 - On Thursday, August 17, Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, returned to the General House after the Team Visit to Hungary and following the celebratory events at Colle Don Bosco for the anniversary of Don Bosco's birth and the return of the stolen relic. In the evening he offered the Salesian "Good Night" to the participants of the Meeting of Provincial Secretaries, thanking them for their silent work and for the valuable service of accompaniment of the Provincials.
(ANS - Rome) - One of the main figures accompanying the Provincials in their service of animation and government is that of the Provincial Secretary. In order to deepen the role and the specific contribution to the life of the Salesian Provinces and Vice-Provinces, the First Meeting of the Provincial Secretaries is currently in progress.
Rome, Italy - August 2017 - Eight Salesian students from Jerusalem, in Italy for a summer experience, concluded their ten-day service at the General House. After a total of 1,500 hours of work, just minutes before midnight on August 10, they added the last of the 3914 paper questionnaires on the Salesian Accompaniment received from all the Provinces across the globe onto servers. The procedure was accompanied by the 'online' solidarity of 224 Salesian volunteers who have generously contributed to this initiative these past two months.

(ANS - Rome) - From July 31st to August 3rd, the Salesian Team Visit regarding the new Mediterranean region was held at the General House in Rome. Led by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, his Vicar Fr Francesco Cereda and some members of the General Council, other participants included: the Provincials and their respective councils of the Provinces of Italy, Portugal, Spain and the Middle East. The purpose of the Team Visit was the Verification and Programming of the Congregation's various Sectors of Animation via various reports delivered by the Councilors of the Sector and of the Regional Councilor to the assembly.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
