(ANS – Rome) – “As is customary, I have the opportunity to give you a ‘good night’, for two reasons: to tell you about the work of the Winter Plenary Session of the General Council, and to thank you for the work that you do for the good of the Salesian Congregation around the world.” These were Fr Ángel Fernández Artime’s words as Rector Major on the evening of 17 January at the conclusion of the General Council’s work.

Rome, Italy – January 2019 – The World Conference of Salesian Mission offices is being held from 16-20 January at the “Domus Urbis” House in Rome.  90 people are taking part – 68 Salesians, 1 FMA and 21 lay people from 54 Provinces and 45 countries. The Conference has been organised by Fr George Menamparampil, SDB, Coordinator of Mission Offices.

(ANS – Rome) – With more than 360 participants from 43 countries around the world, the 37th Salesian Family Spirituality Days were a new opportunity for unity and sharing among members of the spiritual and apostolic family which came about through St John Bosco. In order not to lose the results of this great occasion. A number of useful resources have been made available.

(ANS – Rome) – The Executive Council of the Salesian Higher Institutes of Education (IUS) met in Rome from 8 to 10 January. The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, also joined the meeting, addressing participants on three fundamental issues for the leadership and government of IUS as it reflects, in preparation for the coming 28th General Chapter of the Congregation: the centrality of the option for poor youth; the urgency of shared mission between Salesians and lay people; the strengthening of the sense of charismatic belonging of IUS to the Provinces and the Congregation.

(ANS – Rome) – The “Agenzia iNfo Salesiana” (ANS), the communications agency of the Salesian Congregation, has carried out practically all its activity online over the years: the site is the platform for access to the world of Salesian information, and its profiles on social networks – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr and YouTube – as well as disseminating the Congregation’s messages, encourage digital communication of and in the Salesian “galaxy”. But there is still one “analogue” product remaining and that has not lost its edge with the passing of time: ANSFoto.
