(ANS – Rome) – It is called “Post-Chapter Reflection” instead of “Chapter Document”, as has been the custom, given that the General Chapter Assembly had not approved this document. GC28, instead, asked the Rector Major and his Council to accept the request to bring the work begun by the Assembly to a good conclusion. The purpose of these post-Chapter reflections, however, is the same: to guide the life of the Salesian Congregation over the six years from General Chapter 28 until the next Chapter in 2026. We are talking about the official document that the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, will officially release next Sunday, 16 August, on the 205th anniversary of Don Bosco’s birth.
(Rome, August 3, 2020) - August 16 is always a special feast day for the Salesian Family: it is, in fact, the day on which the anniversary of Don Bosco's birth is celebrated. Also this year, which marks the saint's 205th birthday, a solemn Eucharistic concelebration is scheduled, which will also be visible online and which will be celebrated at the Basilica of Colle Don Bosco, in Castelnuovo Don Bosco, where the "Father and Teacher of Youth" was born.
The Mass will begin at 11:00 (UTC + 2) and will be presided over by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime.
For all those who wish to attend, but cannot be physically present, the Eucharist will be broadcast live by ANS on its Facebook page (with commentary in three languages - Italian, English and Spanish) and on ANSChannel on YouTube where it will remain available for viewing online even at the end of the live broadcast.

(ANS - RMG) - Strengthening mutual learning through the exchange of knowledge is part of the joint work developed by "América Social Salesiana", the Network of Salesian Social Works and Services for young people at risk in the Interamerica Region. An online meeting was held on Tuesday 4 August on the theme: “Experiences and challenges in the educational-pastoral work of the Salesian Social Works during the pandemic”. It was attended by 27 representatives of 14 Provinces (including officers and directors of social works and the Delegates for Youth Ministry). Through a participatory teamwork methodology, they shared and socialized the socio-educational experiences used to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable segments of the population during the Covid-19 health emergency, and identified the challenges they face in this new circumstance.
(ANS - Rome) - There are just four days to 16 August, the day on which the whole Salesian Family in the world commemorates the birth of the Father and Teacher of Youth, St. John Bosco. In this 2020, marked by a pandemic that still grips a large part of the global population, the heirs of his charism are looking again at Don Bosco to find in him those elements that are always valid - in every time, place and circumstance - to accompany young people, and especially those who are poorer and in need.
(ANS - Rome) – Starting today, the complete text of the presentation of the Rector Major's Strenna for 2021, entitled "Moved by hope: 'Behold, I make all things new' (Rev 21:5)" is available from today also in English, on the website sdb.org.
