(ANS - Castelnuovo Don Bosco) - In the year in which the Rector Major's Strenna drew attention to the lay dimension of Don Bosco's Family, a reflection on Salesian holiness cannot fail to cast a special light on those lay people who have been a leaven of life at the level of heroism. This is why, in the framework of the third seminar for the promotion of the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of the Salesian Family, the participants in this initiative were confronted with some of these models of Christian life. With a special focus on Don Bosco's first teacher in the faith, Mamma Margaret, whose opening of the new museum dedicated to her at Capriglio was celebrated on the same day - Saturday 9 September - by happy coincidence.
Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy - 9 September 2023 - More than 80 participants of the 3rd seminar for the promotion of the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of the Salesian Family began their fourth day by making a pilgrimage to the places connected to Don Bosco's childhood. There they participated in the Eucharist presided for them by Fr Thatireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, Rector of the Colle Don Bosco.
(ANS - Turin) - A look around one's self to compare and echo together the echoes of the day's speeches, and a look above one's self to fix one's gaze on the origin and the protagonist of every story of holiness, the Holy Spirit: along these two tracks proceeded the afternoon of Friday 8 September, the third day of the seminar for the promotion of the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of the Salesian Family.
(ANS - Turin) - Much of the Gospel tells of Jesus performing miracles or, in the words of St John the Evangelist, "signs". And miracles are still today the essential elements for the advancement of any Cause of Beatification or Canonization. The morning of the third day of the seminar on holiness, Friday 8 September, Feast of the Nativity of Mary, dealt with this topic in an organic manner, with a theoretical report and a series of presentations on some concrete experiences recorded among the cases followed by the General Postulation of the Salesian Family.
Messina, Italy - September 2023 - To be Don Bosco today, forever. To prepare to say yes to this dream of God on their lives, thirty-seven young Salesians in initial formation met at the St Thomas Institute in Messina from 2 to 7 September. Coming from the different houses in Italy where they are now in formation, but representing the most diverse nationalities, they were brought back into contact with the roots of Salesian consecration, in view of the important step which will be perpetual profession. The meetings were led by the Provincial of Sicily (ISI), Fr Giovanni D'Andrea, the Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry Fr Alberto Anzalone and the Rector of the house Fr Giuseppe Cassaro. What does it mean to live the evangelical counsels as Salesians? What is the style of our fraternal life? How do we think about the youth mission in today's world? What is, at root, the identity of the Salesian of Don Bosco? These are the questions that animated the moments of reflection: a precious opportunity to be able to return to the Salesian Constitutions and to reread these first years of consecration. These days were also a special gift for enjoying extended times of friendship and acquaintance, appreciating the beauty of diversity and enriching each other's experiences. The concluding recollection, conducted by the Vice-Provincial, Fr Franco Di Natale, was intended to be a stimulus for the young Salesians in initial formation to live this year of preparation for perpetual profession to the full, handing themselves over to God, who can do everything, so that he may do great things.
(ANS – Turin) – With the intention of offering a guided and complete process for the promotion of the Causes of Beatification and Canonisation, the seminar organised in Turin by the General Postulation for the Salesian Family placed two other essential elements at the centre of activities in the afternoon of Thursday, 7 September 2023: an attentive and prayerful visit to the actual places where holiness took shape, and the reputation for holiness and signs requested by the Church for the opening of any Inquiry.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
