Ragusa, Italy – July 2023 - On the final evening of 22 July, the 2023 edition of the Grest (Summer Group) of the Salesians, Ragusa ended with the participation of about 1,000 people including young people, leaders, educators and families in an evening of joy and fraternity. "Life as a King" was the motto of Grest 2023, inspired by the famous cartoon "The Lion King", and which took place from 15 June to 22 July. The Grest, coordinated by Salesians Fr Enrico Frusteri Chiacchiera, director of the Oratory, and Fr Orazio Moschetti, a young Salesian student of theology in Messina, involved 60 young animators aged 15 and over who lifted spirits for 140 children at the "minigrest", in the morning, and 350 older youth at the "Grest", in the afternoon. The four Grest teams were engaged in challenges and games, but also in workshops and formation activities, sports and lots of fun. The summer activities proposed by the Salesian oratory at Ragusa also concerned families, so the children could experience moments of leisure and happiness with their parents. Several trips took place during the summer activities. On 19 July the  "Capaci di Raccontare" event was held in memory of Judge Paolo Borsellino and his escort, killed by the Mafia on that day in 1992. The event, which was also attended by the Mayor of Ragusa, Peppe Cassì, was a moment to say no to the Mafia and yes to life, but also to remember the importance of abiding by the law. The Grest in Ragusa was conceived almost half a century ago by Fr Franco Solarino, SDB.
