Palermo, Italy - February 2021 - The community of the Salesian Institute "Don Bosco Ranchibile" in Palermo, despite the difficult moment due to the pandemic and in full compliance to government health anf safety decrees, has worked to keep alive the activities started previously: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Archery, Martial Art 'Hwa Rang Do', Group Dance, Guitar, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Modern Dance, Capoeira, Postural Gymnastics, Piano. Thus, the many activities are carried out outdoors, ensuring social distancing, to offer children the opportunity to grow and develop their passions in a safe and Salesian educational environment. Also, formation meetings are held in the oratory so they can reflect on faith and the sense of belonging to a community, guaranteeing spiritual and human growth inspired by Don Bosco. Another initiative carried out by the Institute is school tutoring through which students in difficulty are taught a valid and effective method of study for learning.

(ANS - Orta San Giulio) - On the occasion of the opening of the "Casa Don Bosco" Museum in Turin-Valdocco, the Ancient Textiles Restoration Laboratory of the "Mater Ecclesiae" abbey of the Benedictine nuns of Isola San Giulio - municipality of Orta San Giulio, Province of Novara, Piedmont - has restored some clothes and accessories that belonged to Don Bosco. "The beautiful coincidence of the feast day of Don Bosco with that of San Giulio (both celebrated on January 31, Ed) and the communion with the Salesian reality of our diocese, make the figure of the holy priest John Bosco dear to us," explained the nuns.

Genoa, Italy - February 2021 - On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February, the General Councilor for the Missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla visited the Latin American community "Latinos en Don Bosco" at the Salesian parish of Genoa-Sampierdarena. Respecting health protocols, Fr Maravilla met some of their members and presided over the Eucharist. "Latinos en Don Bosco" is a community made up of about 1,000 people from different parts of Genoa. The Salesian community of Sampierdarena welcomed the first migrants 10 years ago. Currently the parish organizes a Mass for them in Spanish on Saturday evening and Sunday at noon, which before the pandemic was normally well attended; the children of migrants actively participate in the oratory and parish catechesis for the sacraments; and even some Italians now join the Mass in Spanish. The community is led by the parish priest, Fr Daniel Coronel, who was sent as a missionary within the Project for Europe.
Turin, Italy - January 2021 - During the visit of the Provincial of the Special Circumscription of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta (ICP), Fr Leonardo Mancini, to the Salesian house "Rebaudengo", just before Don Bosco's feast day, the completely renovated welcome desk, reception, and concierge rooms of the house were blessed, and the spaces, renovated in their arrangement and management, of the new bar and canteen room were also inaugurated. Furthermore, thanks to the work of the ICP Youth Ministry Communication Office, the new website of the work was also launched, imagined as the Salesian courtyard in which to meet friends and learn to live thanks to the educational possibilities offered by the seven pastoral environments that make up the center. "I believe that this triple launch in these months of hardship and restrictions is a message of hope for everyone: Don Bosco is here and his houses continue to form good Christians, upright citizens and future inhabitants of Heaven," said Fr Luca Barone, SDB, Director of the “Rebaudengo”.

(ANS - Turin) - It was January 1991 when it was decided to establish a "Mission Office" also in Italy, in Turin, where the Mother House of the Salesian Congregation is located. That Mission Office, now known in the world as "Missioni Don Bosco", has therefore just turned 30: three decades spent supporting the Salesian works around the world, financing them and helping them to grow, fostering and making known the works of good that are carried out in favor of the most disadvantaged people.

(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
