Vatican City, Vatican - 1 April 1934 - Pope Pius XI proclaimed John Bosco holy on 1 April 1934, on Easter Sunday, at the conclusion of the Extraordinary Jubilee of the Redemption. The picture shows the large number of people who took part in the great event.
Turin, Italy - 1880 - After the construction of the church of San Francesco, Don Bosco began the construction of a building for the activities of the oratory. One of the first initiatives to be started was the workshop for blacksmiths and steel workers, which began operating in 1880.
Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy - 1898 – On the tenth anniversary of the Apostle of Youth’s death, a monument was erected in his honor at Castelnuovo Don Bosco, probably one of the first monuments dedicated to him.
Turin, Italy - 1865 - Don Bosco was not an artist, but for works of art he relied on intuition as educator and evangelizer. He entrusted the painting of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians’ main altar to Tommaso Lorenzone. The artist followed Don Bosco’s precise instructions, giving him the first sketch of the imposing image of Mary Help of Christians.
