Valsalice, Italy – 1892 – During the 6th General Chapter, held in Valsalice from August 29 to September 7, 1892, the decision was made to send at least four Salesians to Mexico. On September 5, 1892, Fr. Raffaele Piperni, on behalf of Fr. Michele Rua, sent a confirmation letter to Lascuráin, informing him of the Salesians’ impending arrival. In the end, five Salesians departed from Turin on October 19, 1892, marking the beginning of the Salesian mission in Mexico.
Argentina – 1938 – Among the many historical images available on the website zatti.org, there is this old photograph from 1938. In the image, Artemide Zatti, the third person standing from the left, is captured in a moment of fellowship with the assembly of the Catholic Action association.
Cáceres, Spain – 1956 – This photograph, taken in 1956, captures a moment from the blessing ceremony of the machinery at the Vocational Training School in Cáceres. At the event, project director, Fr. Francisco Gamarro SDB, the then-Bishop of Coria-Cáceres, Monsignor Llopis Ivorra, the President of the Provincial Council of Cáceres, and other local civil authorities of the time were also present. The school was located in the former convent of San Francisco, which had long been under the care of the Franciscans. It was later managed by the Salesians for about ten years, until August 1964. Even today, many former students fondly remember the Salesians for their dedication and work at the school.
