(ANS – Hong Kong) – A proposal from GC28 was suggested: “Together with Pope Francis, we recognise the evidence provided by science that the acceleration of climate change coming from human activity is real. Air pollution, water pollution, Improper waste disposal, loss of biodiversity and other environmental issues that have a negative impact on human life are increasing. Unsustainable production and consumption are pushing our world and its ecosystems beyond their limits, undermining their ability to provide resources and actions vital to life, development and regeneration.”
(ANS – Lima) – Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, and Fr Gabriel Cruz, Worldwide Spiritual Animator of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) and his collaborator in the Postulation, are currently (16-21 April 2024) visiting the Saint Rose Province of Peru. The purpose of their presence in the Andean country is to accompany and guide the Cause of Beatification and Canonisation of Fr Luis (Luigi) Bolla, SDB, and advance the cause of Bishop Octavio Ortíz Arrieta, SDB.
(ANS – Genoa) – The new course for motor vehicle repair mechanics began on the afternoon of Wednesday 17 April, at the headquarters of the Salesian Vocational Training Centre in Genoa, in the presence of the Prefect of Genoa, Cinzia Torraco. A 500-hour training course, divided equally between classrooms/workshops and internships in companies, aimed at certifying some important skills with a view to work, social and cultural integration; the course, thanks to the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, will allow 18 members, all under 25 from the sub-Saharan area and currently housed in the facilities managed by the Genoese White Cross, to learn the basic knowledge for repairs on motor vehicle thermal engines, the starting point for the future qualification of "operator for the repair of motor vehicles".
(ANS – Turin) – "In Lviv I was impressed by the cemetery in the city centre. A place where the entire community can honour fallen soldiers, but which is full of young people's graves. And in the city I have also seen many people mutilated by war." These are the words of Fr Daniel Antúnez, an Argentine Salesian and President of Missioni Don Bosco, who returned to Italy a few days ago from a trip that took him to visit the projects of the Salesians in Slovakia, Poland and especially in Ukraine a few months later.
(ANS – Turin) – On 18 April 2024, the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) celebrates 155 years since its foundation: in Turin on 18 April 1869, by the work of St John Bosco, the year after the consecration of the Church of Mary Help of Christians in Turin (9 June 1868), as a sign of gratitude for the benefits that people recognised as received from the Virgin, and as an instrument for the defence and growth of the faith of the Christian people.
(ANS – Vatican City) – On 4 April 2024, Archbishop Edgar Peña Perra, Substitute for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, communicated to Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, that the Supreme Pontiff Francis has granted that the Rite of Beatification of the Venerable Servant of God Camillo Costa de Beauregard, Diocesan Priest; born in Chambéry (France) on 17 February 1841 and died there on 25 March 1910 – whose Cause is entrusted to the Salesian Postulation – will take place on Saturday, 17 May 2025 in Chambéry, France. The Holy Father's representative will be Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.
