Messina, Italy - August 2016 - On 23 August, at the community of St. Thomas, the Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Stefano Martoglio, and the Provincial of Sicily, Fr Giuseppe Ruta and several Salesians gathered to celebrate the 103rd birthday of Fr Vincenzo La Mantia, now the patriarch of the Salesians in Italy.

Iquique, Chile - August 2016 – As part of the centenary commemoration of the death of Bishop José Fagnano, the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Francesco Cereda, has begun in Iquique a tour of some cities of Chile, where he will meet with the various Salesian communities. He has visited Concepción where he met with representatives of the community of Talca, Linares, Concepción, Valdivia and Puerto Montt.

Port-au-Prince, Haiti - August 2016 - The Episcopal ordination of Bishop Sylvain Ducange, took place on 27 August. He was appointed by Pope Francis as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince and assigned to the titular see of Nine. The celebration was presided over by Bishop Louis Kébreau, SDB, in the presence of numerous religious and civil authorities including the President of Haiti.
