Yakuts, Russia – August 2016 – From August 3rd to 8th, Fr. Alfred Maravilla, of the Dicastery for the Missions, and Fr. Peter Jacko, Provincial Delegate for Missionary Animation of the Slovak Province (SLK), guided an encounter of reflection and discernment on the Salesian presence in the territory of the Republic of Yakutia, in the Siberian region of the Russian Federation. The first Salesians from Slovakia went to those lands, and precisely to Aldan, in 1992, to assume the pastoral care of the few Catholics. In 1997 a second presence was opened in the capital, Yakuts. Today the Salesians animate a parish, the only one in a territory as big as China.

Campo Grande, Brazil – August 2016 – In the presence of the Councillor for America South Cone Region, Fr. Natale Vitali, there was the Curatorium of the inter-provincial Postnovitiate of Campo Grande. The Provincials of Manaus, Campo Grande and Belo Horizonte were also present.

Narita, Japan – August 10th, 2016 – Accompanied by the Salesian Provincial of Japan, Fr. Mario Yamanouchi, 8 young missionary volunteers, guided by Fr. Peter Shin Mishima, on Wednesday, August 10th, departed from the international airport of Narita for Solomon Islands. There, for a period of three weeks, they will collaborate in the activities of the Salesian houses, taking inspiration from the slogan that this year characterised the activities of volunteer work abroad: “Tasks and Service”.
