(ANS - Madrid) - While waiting for the various Salesian leisure time proposals to be launched in complete safety, about 700 animators belonging to 47 Salesian houses of the Youth Centers of the "Spain-St James the Greater" Province (SSM) and of the “Valdocco Federation” of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Madrid and Castile La Mancha, have started the formation course foreseen by the proposal of the Education in the Faith Itinerary (IEF). Thus, on Saturday 26 September, they listened attentively to 11 artists from different disciplines who proposed various forms of evangelization through art.
(ANS - Guatemala City) - From 17 to 19 September 2020, with a duration of 3 hours a day, the meeting of the Central animation team of the Salesian Schools of America (ESA, in Spanish) took place virtually.
(ANS - Rome) - From 17 to 19 September 2020 the meeting of the Salesian publishers of the America South Cone and Interamerica regions took place via videoconference. It brought together those in charge for the sector from Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Chile, Argentina. The event was chaired by Fr Gildásio Mendes dos Santos, General Councilor for Social Communication, with presentations by Fr Hugo Orozco, Councilor for the Interamerica Region, and Fr Gabriel Romero, Councilor for the America South Cone Region. Also present was Marta Palomares, coordinator of the Salesian publishers in Europe.
(ANS - San José) – Taking place last Saturday, 12 September, feast day of the Name of Mary, at the House of Mary Help of Christians, "Sister Maria Romero Social Works", in San José, Costa Rica, was the blessing of the renovated Mausoleum of the Blessed Maria Romero, religious of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA). The archbishop of San José, Msgr. José Rafael Quirós, presided over the solemn ceremony.
(ANS - RMG) - The XVI Regional Meeting of the "Salesian Social America" Network took place online from 8 to 10 September. Initially planned as a face-to-face meeting to be held in Jarabacoa, in the Dominican Republic, the event saw 42 participants among Salesians and lay people - Delegates for Youth Ministry, Delegates for Social Works or Directors of Social Works - from the 14 Provinces of the Salesian region of Interamerica: Antilles, Bolivia, Central America, Chile, Colombia-Bogotá and Colombia-Medellín, Ecuador, United States East and Canada, United States West, Haiti, Mexico-México, Mexico-Guadalajara, Peru and Venezuela.
(ANS - Quito) - More than 40 people are participating in the 2020 Social Communication Meeting of Salesian America, an appointment that had been scheduled to take place in Brazil, but which, due to the coronavirus pandemic, takes place online from 9 to 11 September. The Salesians and lay people who collaborate in this sector are meeting to exchange positive experiences and work on the communication documents of the Congregation.
(ANS – Mumbai) – The Don Bosco Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia (SPCSA) Assembly was held from 1 to 3 September 2020 via the virtual medium. Convoked under the leadership of the SPCSA President Father Biju Michael, South Asia Regional Councillor, 40 Salesians are participating in this virtual assembly including Province Delegates and South Asia Sector and Dimension Coordinators, apart from the Provincials of the South Asia region.
(ANS - Vatican City) - The "Season of Creation" is an annual ecumenical event held from 1 September to 4 October and aims to be a moment of prayer and action in favor of our "Common Home". The goal this year is to reconsider ecological, economic, social and political lifestyles. The theme chosen for 2020 is: “Jubilee for the Earth”.
(ANS - Turin) – The first two booklets of the series “Vivere Don Bosco – percorsi di visita e spiritualità” were presented on the solemn day on which the whole Salesian world celebrated the 205th anniversary of Don Bosco's birth. The event took place on the hill of the same name in the presence of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, his Vicar Fr Stefano Martoglio, of the Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, of Fr Enrico Stasi and Fr Leonardo Mancini - who took turns these days at the helm of the Special Circumscription of Italy Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta.
(ANS - Nairobi) - The leadership team of Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) and the representatives of the African Union Commission, led by Nicholas Ouma, held a webinar, focusing in particular on the theme: "Improving transitions between school and work and the employability of young people in Africa after COVID-19."
