The main objective of the meeting is to continue to together build the vision of the future of Salesian communication in the next six years through the study and deepening of the Instrumentum Laboris on Salesian communication and the programmatic proposal of the Rector Major for the 2020-2026 term.
On the morning of the first day, Fr Mendes dos Santos greeted the participants with a warm welcome in which he heartily thanked each of them for their participation, support and work done in each of the Provinces, as responsible for the Salesian Bulletins.
“This meeting takes place after the 28th General Chapter, now with a new General Councilor for Communication, in this time of great changes in society. As Salesian communicators we are flexible, open, collaborative and creative,” said Fr Mendes dos Santos.
The General Councilor then continued: “This meeting invites us to deepen our mission as responsible for the Salesian Bulletins. We shall expand and update our vision of communication based on the proposal of the Church and the Congregation.”
Fr Romero added: “I want to greet you and thank you; it is a pleasure to talk with you. May the Lord help us to be able to transmit and share a message of hope in this time of difficulty.”
Zaida Navarrete, coordinator of the team of Delegates for Communication in the America sector, emphasized that this meeting opens a path of participation, synergy and cooperation. “The idea is to get to know each other and see what is being done in the different countries, because we are a single global organization, we are brothers.”
The work of the first day focused on presenting the progress of each Salesian Bulletin with respect to the agreements made at the World Meeting of Directors of Salesian Bulletins held in Rome in 2019.
The first day ended with the words of Fr Mendes dos Santos: “You are doing a marvellous and very Salesian work. The Salesian Bulletin is a magazine of great force in world communication, it is a charismatic and institutional magazine. Our idea is to give continuity and impetus to the work done.”
In the following two days the programmatic proposal of the Rector Major and the Instrumentum Laboris on Communication are developed and deepened.
