The meeting confirmed the holding of the next General Assembly from 13 to 19 July 2021 at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome. The Assembly will have the specific objective of reflecting in order to plan the journey of the IUS in response to the current context and, at the same time, in fidelity to the Salesian identity and mission.
The results expected by the Assembly will be the new Policy document for the period 2021-2025, the definition of the Common Program 6, and the approval and implementation of the strategies of the "Guidelines for Pastoral Care in the IUS".
The online meeting made it possible to learn about the path that the IUS are achieving in the various continents and regions.
One of the issues to be addressed in the General Assembly concerns higher education in the post-pandemic phase as digital communication technologies applied to education have become so widespread that they revolutionize how knowledge is produced, transmitted, disseminated and managed.
The IUS, for their part, are preparing the next world meeting, each evaluating their respective policies and updating basic information, to contribute more and more to being a presence of the Salesian Congregation in Higher Education, at the service of young people, with quality and identity according to the charism inherited from Don Bosco.
The virtual meeting ended with a greeting from Fr Miguel Angel García, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, and thanks to Fr Tarcízio Morais and Fr Patrick Anthonyraj, members of the same Department, for their support.
Fr Marcelo Farfán
General Coordinator of the IUS
