Dimapur, India – April 2024 – The Bosco College of Teacher Education and the Salesian Institute of Higher Education in Dimapur, Nagaland, jointly organised a two-day international seminar on “Equity and Inclusion in School Education”. The seminar, held on 26 and 27 April, fostered debate among educators, researchers, policy makers and teachers-in-training on the crucial aspects of inclusivity and equity, in line with national policies for education. The meeting was opened by Fr Jose Joseph Sabu, Principal  of the Bosco College of Teacher Education while the opening address was given by Prof. Buno Liegise, professor and director of the Department of Education of the University of Nagaland. Numerous addresses followed, including one by Prof. Marion Mathew, drawing on her extensive experience in the field, who provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving equity and inclusivity in school education. Finally, Dr. Esaya Britto Raphael, from Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, conducted the plenary session via videoconference, exploring the importance of flexible curricula to meet different learning needs.

Tonj, South Sudan – April 2024 – The Don Bosco elementary school in Tonj celebrated Sports Day on 26 April. The celebrations began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr David Nduati, SDB, Vice-Provincial of the AFE Province. Then, in addition to football, volleyball and basketball, there were several track races, such as the 100 metres, the 200 metre, the 1000 metre and the obstacle course. Participants also engaged in other fun activities, such as tug-of-war and the game of chairs. The Day was enhanced by the presence of Fr Paul Antimi, Provincial Delegate for Sudan and South Sudan, and Fr Donnie Duchin Duya, Provincial Delegate for Social Communication in FIN Province. Throughout the day, therefore, the famous saying of Don Bosco was put into practice: "Run, play, shout, but do not sin".

Gatchina, Russia – April 2024 - An animator course was organised in Gatchina from February to April 2024. Traditionally, the course consists of three monthly sessions. The third meeting was organised in the country house of the Society of the Divine Word and lasted two days. There were 27 people who took part in the course in person and online: 21 current and 6 new animators who want to try their hand at this role from this year. All participants in the course for animators attended the oratory as children and now wish to continue doing so as animators. In these days, the animators have reflected on Don Bosco's childhood dream, experienced formative moments, examined and reflected on a historical document of Don Bosco and analysed some basic elements to successfully carry out the role of animator and more effectively implement Don Bosco's educational system. In addition, there were many activities to support the unity of the animators: team games, quizzes, workshops and dialogue. Most of the participants in the course plan to take part in recreational activities for children, which will be organised in July 2024.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras – April 2024 – The San Juan Bosco Vocational Training Centre celebrates its 39th anniversary. Founded almost four decades ago by Fr Guerrino Giacomel, SDB, who, following Don Bosco's ideals, dedicated his commitment and passion to helping Honduran youth, the centre has left an indelible mark on the country's technical training. Under the current leadership of Salesian Brother Oscar Pereira and his team of collaborators, Fr Giacomel's legacy has evolved and prospered, expanding its reach over the years to serve a growing number of young people. The VET offers a wide range of technical areas, including styling, barbering, graphic design, electrical and photovoltaic systems, automotive mechanics, motorcycle mechanics, baking and pastry, refrigeration and air conditioning, and computer systems support. In addition, distance learning opportunities are provided and partnerships are established with international organisations to support young graduates on their path to a promising future.

Isidro Casanova, Argentina – April 2024 – Salesian Gustavo Ortiz was ordained a deacon by Bishop Jorge Martín Torres Carbonell, bishop of the Diocese of Gregorio de Laferrere on 27 April at the Salesian House of the Good Shepherd . Present at the celebration was Fr Darío Perera, Superior of the Salesian Province of Argentina South (ARS), relatives and friends of the new deacon and numerous Salesians including Fr Roberto Musante who is currently a missionary in Angola.

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam – April 2024 - On 30 April at the Community of the Sacred Heart in Bathon, a day of encounter and sharing took place between the novices of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and the novices of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Vietnam. The meeting was focused on the theme "Knocking on the door of dreams", inspired by the Rector Major's Strenna 2024. Throughout the day of meetings between the SDB and FMA novices, group discussions, theatrical performances, games, illustrations of themes and sharing of vocational motivations took place. The day of exchange was full of kindness and meaning and left the bond and joy of consecrated life in each participant .
