San Pedro Carchá, Guatemala – April 2024 – The Don Bosco Educational Centre, located in San Pedro Carchá, in the Department of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, became the focus of the environmental dialogue on Thursday, 18 April, hosting a forum entitled: "Forests, communities and natural reserves". The latter brought together several institutions committed to the conservation of the environment, in line with the appeal of Pope Francis in his Encyclical Laudato Si'. The event, which was attended by more than 600 people, was jointly organised by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the National Forestry Institute, the National Council of Protected Areas, the Don Bosco Centre and with the support of the "RENACE" Hydroelectric Power Plant. During the day, the Don Bosco Centre shared with the participants the initiatives implemented for the care of the environment, including the planting of 30,000 trees, waste collection and differentiation programmes, campaigns to reduce the use of plastic bags, the promotion of organic farming and technical training in agro-forestry. The main objective of these initiatives is to extend this knowledge to the families and communities associated with the 3,000 students of the centre, so that they become multipliers of change.

Bangkok, Thailand – April 2024 – The Provincial Chapter of the Salesian St Paul Province of Thailand (THA) was held from 22 to 25 April, under the theme: "Passionate about Jesus Christ, dedicated to young people". The Provincial Chapter was moderated by Fr Peter Niphon Sarachit and was chaired by the THA Provincial, Fr Anthony Boonlert Panetatthayasai. In addition to the 36 officially elected members, 8 observers also participated in the Chapter, each of whom represented the groups of the Salesian Family of Thailand: Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sisters Handmaids of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Daughters of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate, Sisters of the Queenship of Mary Help of Christians, Salesian Cooperators, Volunteers of Don Bosco, Association of Mary Help of Christians and Past Pupils. The participants in the Provincial Chapter worked on the three core areas proposed by the 29th General Chapter (GC29) and reflected on the animation and governance of the Congregation, seeking to strengthen ties with the laity and the Salesian Family, and thus continue to work together for the well-being and future of young people.

Kinshasa, DR Congo – April 2024 – The inauguration of the Salesian Games 2024 took place on April 26 at the "City of Youth", in the district of Lukunga, near Kinshasa. The event, which brought together all the works managed by Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Kinshasa, opened with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Aurélien Mukangwa Mwana Ngoy, Superior of the Africa Congo Congo (ACC) Vice-Province. After the presentation parade and the opening ceremony, Fr Jerry Matsoumbou, Delegate for Youth Ministry for the ACC Vice-Province, and Fr Justin Kumbu, Rector of the "City of Young People" took the floor. The participants were welcomed, remembering that "living the Salesian Games means being joyful and friendly".

Rome, Italy – April 2024 - As part of the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of its foundation, on 21 April the Pontifical Pio Brailiano College organised a 7-a-side football tournament with some guests. The event was attended by the Pontifical Spanish College, Pontifical Latin American College, Pontifical Mexican College, Consolata Missionaries and Salesians from the Work in Testaccio. It was a beautiful day of fraternity that began with a Eucharist together. The Salesians in Testaccio represented the Salesians well, bringing home the second place trophy in the tournament.

Recife, Brazil – April 2024 - The Don Bosco School in Recife celebrated Young Workers' Day with a significant milestone: 2,000 young apprentices entered the labour market. The special event to celebrate the day took place on 23 April at the Boa Vista Theatre, located on the premises of the Salesian College in Recife, before the official date of the celebration. The main goal was to inspire and form this new generation of professionals. The event provided an immersion for young participants, both in person and online, with lessons and enriching moments of interaction. This date, established at the initiative of the International Labour Organization (ILO), highlights the importance of opportunities and the inclusion of young people in the labour market, values that are deeply rooted in the Salesian mission: to promote the integral formation of young people based on Don Bosco's preventive system, developing their skills and committing to guaranteeing Fundamental Rights for all. With 76 years of activity, the Don Bosco School in Recife boasts a rich history of experiences and successes, reason to celebrate this date with enthusiasm. With every opportunity generated, a new story of transformation emerges through the commitment and dedication of young people and collaborators, in collaboration with partner companies that believe in the potential of young people.

Slovenia – Oratory Leader Formation

Slovenia – April 2024 -Two formation sessions were prepared In April in the Oratorij Slovenija association under the direction of the Salesian Youth Ministry Office and the Delegate Fr Jure Babnik, SDB, for young leaders who carry out the oratory programs in the various Slovenian parishes. The first took place from 12 to 14 April in Želimlje and involved 29 young people, and the second from 19 to 21 April in Velesovo, where 16 young people participated. The formation sessions have been designed to give participants a complete overview of public speaking skills, from group management techniques and a deeper understanding of the purpose of the activity to the development of an animation group and the management of the different team roles. The participants also focused on the history of the Oratory and its founder, Don Bosco. Through interactive lessons, group exercises and individual analysis, each participant had the opportunity to gain valuable insights and feedback to improve their skills and understand the very roots of the Oratory mission.
