Anisakan, Myanmar – May 2024 - Basic computer skills are one of the requirements that today's young people constantly require in order to enter both the field of education and any other professional sphere of global society. Just to acquire basic computer skills, many young locals have to travel hundreds of kilometers to big cities, such as Yangon and Mandalay. Expenses incurred for travel, food, and lodging are always much more expensive than expenses for computer training. In addition, being away from your family can also lead to social problems unnecessarily, if you are not cautious and cautious enough about the threats to city life. With all these underlying reasons and to respond concretely to the needs of young people, the Don Bosco Media Team since last summer has been offering computer training courses for young people, in which the organisation itself provides laptops for the training of boys and girls in different locations. So far, over 150 young people have benefited from the training courses. Among these, about 50 young people have already obtained the certificates of completion of the courses.

Yakutsk, Russia – May 2024 - The Salesian mission in Siberia celebrates a double jubilee in these days: the 30th anniversary of the arrival of the first Salesian missionaries in Yakutsk, capital of the Republic of Sakha - Yakutia, and the 15th  anniversary of the consecration of the Church of the Holy Trinity. In August 1994, Fr Daniel Pravda and Fr Ladislav Stanko arrived from Aldan (southern Yakutia) together with missionary volunteer Judita Štempelova. It was not only the beginning of Salesian activity, but also the official beginning of the Catholic Church in this city. In July 1995, Yakutsk was visited by the then Rector Major, Fr Juan Edmundo Vecchi. On that occasion he blessed the land for the new Youth House, which began its activity in 1997. Later, the need for a new church grew and its construction was directed by  Salesian Fr Andrej Porubčin. Despite the difficult climatic conditions, the work was completed and in 2009 the church was consecrated. As part of the jubilee, the local Salesians prepared, from 2 to 26 April, the exhibition of a copy of the Shroud of Turin, which attracted a good number of visitors. The celebrations culminated on Sunday 28 April with the Mass presided over by the diocesan bishop of Irkutsk, Bishop Kiril Klimovich, who also administered the sacrament of Confirmation to six parishioners during the celebration. In addition, the church organ was blessed, after its restoration, the only pipe organ in Yakutia, followed by a concert performed by a special organist from Venice, Fr Aldo Castenetto, SDB.
