Twardogóra, Poland – May 2024 - Every year, in May, a meeting of the Liturgical Service of the Salesian Province of Wrocław Poland (PLO) is held, called the Provincial Altar Servers Pilgrimage (PiM in Polish). The event has been taking place for 43 years in the spiritual heart of the Province, at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Twardogóra. Over 200 young people from Greater Poland, Lower Silesia and Silesia experienced four days of fun and human growth, establishing healthy relationships and playing various sports and skill games in an atmosphere of fair play. During the pilgrimage there was no lack of spiritual formation and the Liturgical Service participated every day in the solemn Eucharist. "The show in the sanctuary was extraordinary, because each altar boy was dressed in liturgical vestments. Such an image is rare today; but it is even more pleasing that there are still young people who, in addition to sports competition, seek spiritual reflection", said the PLO Salesians. And this beauty was also experienced by the inhabitants of Twardogóra, seeing the altar servers in their streets during the pilgrimage of the March of Joy to the Shrine of the Help of Christians. In addition to sports and spirituality, young people met at evenings of integration and music.

The groups that came for this event were welcome with music and dances, making them immediately enter the atmosphere. During the morning, the young people were involved in four workshops on music, theatre, dance and street art, coordinated by professionals. These workshops were enriched by the two testimonies by Fr Gianmarco Pernice, a Salesian and street artist by passion, and Simone Lupo, a young man from Arese whose life was changed by the Salesian oratory. The centre of the event was the Mass celebrated by Fr José Miguel Nunez, Extraordinary Visitor to the Lombardy-Emilian Province, Italy (ILE) on behalf of the Rector Major of the Salesians, who urged young people not to be afraid and to rediscover "the Salesian sacrament of presence". The afternoon was animated by sports tournaments in the fields set up in the surrounding park, and by giant games built by the leaders. The show, the result of the work of the morning workshops, attracted numerous passers-by and concluded the event.
(ANS – Palabek) - The Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime celebrated the votive mass of Don Bosco for the confreres. In his homily, the Rector Major declared with profound conviction that the Salesian Mission was God’s gift. For this reason, he expressed his admiration and gratitude to the congregation, the provincial superior, and the AGL confreres for devoting their greater strength and commitment for this noble cause. He said that he could experience at firsthand the impact that our Salesian presence makes in the lives of those who need it most. The Rector Major also affirmed that the Palabek mission was the province's front-line mission, "it is a Salesian sin for a confrere to refuse the opportunity to reside and work here among these people of Palabek", he stated. He was confident that Don Bosco is very much pleased with the work that the Salesians are rendering to support the youth of Palabek. At the end, he prayed saying, “May Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco bless this mission now and in the future”.
