(ANS – Turin) – On 18 April 2024, the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) celebrates 155 years since its foundation: in Turin on 18 April 1869, by the work of St John Bosco, the year after the consecration of the Church of Mary Help of Christians in Turin (9 June 1868), as a sign of gratitude for the benefits that people recognised as received from the Virgin, and as an instrument for the defence and growth of the faith of the Christian people.
(ANS – Vatican City) – On 4 April 2024, Archbishop Edgar Peña Perra, Substitute for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, communicated to Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, that the Supreme Pontiff Francis has granted that the Rite of Beatification of the Venerable Servant of God Camillo Costa de Beauregard, Diocesan Priest; born in Chambéry (France) on 17 February 1841 and died there on 25 March 1910 – whose Cause is entrusted to the Salesian Postulation – will take place on Saturday, 17 May 2025 in Chambéry, France. The Holy Father's representative will be Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.
(ANS - Rome) - There is an air of great expecation throughout the Salesian world for the celebration of the Mass of the episcopal consecration of Card. Ángel Fernández Artime, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Titular Archbishop-elect of Ursona; and that of Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti, Titular Archbishop-elect of Gradisca, President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA), which will take place next Saturday, 20 April 2024, in the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major, starting at 3:30 p.m. (UTC+2). Both prelates will concelebrate their First Mass as bishops the following day, Sunday, 21st April, in the Salesian Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Rome, starting at 11:30am.
(ANS – Bangalore) – The Commission for Bible under the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) presented the Creative Ministry Award to the mobile application ‘BibleOn,’ formerly known as The Holy Bible in Tongues, in a function held at NBCLC, Bangalore, on April 12. The award was presented to Fr. Madathiparambil Jose Thomas SDB, Salesian of the Province of Dimapur, and Mr. Thomson Philip, CEO of Eloit Innovations, by Rev. Dr. Antonysamy Peter Abir, Bishop of Sultanpet and Chairman of CCBI Commission for Bible.
(ANS – Annecy) – From 6 to 13 April 2024, 37 Salesians from the four Polish Provinces took part in their annual Retreat held this year in the form of a pilgrimage to France on the theme “Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart (Mt 11:29). With St Francis de Sales in the school of Divine Love.” Most participants were Rectors of communities and responsible for presences in the Province of Krakow (PLS), accompanied by the Provincial, Fr Marcin Kaznowski, his Vice-Provincial Fr Zygmunt Kostka, and the Provincial Economer, Fr Piotr Pawelec.
(ANS – Rome) – Journalist Carlo Di Cicco died yesterday in Rome, at the age of 79. A professional who can rightly be counted among the communicators "of and for peace", and of social matters, he has always been close to Salesian spirituality – having been a professed Salesians for a period – he worked first at the ASCA agency (Agenzia di Stampa Cattolica Associata) and then at L’Osservatore Romano, where he became Deputy Director, a role Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone wanted him in. He was also for many years a close collaborator of the iNfo Salesian Agency (ANS) and also of the Salesian Bulletin.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
