(ANS - Rome) - Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, will be the protagonist of the second meeting of the cycle "Which Salesians for today's young people?", organized by the "Centro Studi Opera Tabernacoli Viventi", in collaboration with the Conference of the Salesian Provinces of Italy (CISI) - Formation Sector. On Saturday, 11 December, from 10:30 to 11:45 (UTC + 1), the 10th Successor of Don Bosco shall discuss the first programmatic line of the six-year term: "Growing in the Salesian identity" and his interventions will be visible to all live on the Facebook page of “Don Bosco Italia”.
(ANS - Rome) - As per tradition during the plenary sessions of the General Council, a new edition of the Accompaniment and Formation Course for recently appointed Provincial Superiors is being repeated. This course - the fourth of 2021 - is attended by 16 Superiors of Provinces or Vice Provinces, according to the strategy adopted by the General Council to recover the appointments missed in the recent past due to the pandemic.
(ANS - Rome) - "The General Council cooperates with the Rector Major in the animation and governance of the Congregation. It is up to the Council to identify and study the problems that affect the common good of the Society, to promote fraternal union between the various provinces, and to manage an ever more efficient organization so that the Salesian mission in the world is fulfilled" (Const. N ° 130). It is in this spirit that the General Council gathered around the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, for the winter plenary session with meetings scheduled from 1 December 2021 to 28 January 2022.

In the last two weeks of November 2021, we here in the ‘Sede Centrale Salesiana’ lived a particularly intense moment of what can only be described as a synodal experience, an experience of walking together as brothers”. The General Councillor for Formation, Fr. Ivo Coelho, today offers ANS readers his reflection on the experience of the meeting for the revision of the Salesian Ratio, held in Rome from November 15 to 28, 2021.
(ANS – Rome) – The fifth session of the East Asia Oceania (EAO) Salesian Communicators School of Formation entitled, “When Pastoral Ministry navigates the web” was held on December 1, 2021. 38 participants of the EAO region attended this enlightening and reflective session that had Fr. Miguel Ángel García Morcuende, General Councillor for Youth Ministry presented in detail the situation amidst the anthropological context, the digital dynamics and the need for a credible and dynamic witness as we engage and network with young people.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
