As one can see by reading the list of participants, they all come from non-European countries: 5 from South America, 2 from Africa-Madagascar, and 9 from Asia. In this way, the positive trend towards the full resumption of the Congregation's government and animation activity, which had already begun last March, is confirmed: in fact, the Provincials participating in the first course of 2020 were six and all from European Provinces; in June, on the other hand, there were seven, with the participation of Provincials also from the American continent; and in October always seven, but all from Africa (3), Latin America (3) and Asia (1).
From the point of view of the contents, the formation course always finds its core in the individual talks between the Rector Major and each Provincial: a one-on-one interview not only to illustrate the "timetable" of the Congregation and the Project Lines of the current six-year term, but also to allow the Superiors to entrust to the X Successor of Don Bosco of the Congregation their individual concerns and the challenges they face every day in their work.
The course program also includes other individual interviews - between the Provincials and the other Sector Councilors; work sessions on the fundamental juridical elements for the exercise of animation and the government of the Provinces; and the presentation of the structures and activities of the Sectors of the Congregation, as well as of other central bodies (the Secretariat for the Salesian Family, the Postulation for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, the work of the Istituto Storico e l’Associazione dei Cultori di Storia Salesiana, the Salesian historical institute).
Spiritual recharging, growth in fraternity and a renewed sense of belonging to the Congregation are the usual fruits of this course.
