(ANS – Rome) – As part of the work of the General Council's 2023 summer plenary session, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime with the consent of the other members of his Council, has appointed Fr Josè Anibal Milhais Mendonça Pinto, currently Provincial of Portugal, as the next Superior of the Mary Seat of Wisdom Vice-Province which embraces the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS). In September this year he will replace Fr Maria Arokiam Kanaga, who has concluded the three-year assignment that the Rector Major had requested of him at the end of the 28th General Chapter (GC28).
(ANS – Rome) – During the General Council Session on Friday, 16 June 2023, Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of the other members of the General Council, appointed Fr Alexandre Luis De Oliveira as the new Superior of the Mary Help of Christians Province of Brazil-San Paolo (BSP).
(ANS – Rome) – During the General Council's working session on Thursday, 15 June, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of the other members of his Council, appointed Fr Francisco Lezama as the new Superior of the St Joseph Province Uruguay (URU).
(ANS – Turin) – As part of the work of the summer plenary session of the General Council, the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of the other members of the General Council, has appointed, on 13 June 2023, Fr Dominic Tran Danh Cong as the next Superior of the St Philip the Apostle Province of the Eastern United States and Canada.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
