(ANS - Rome) – "Entrust, have trust and smile!" This is the title of the letter addressed by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, to the Salesians and to the whole Salesian Family on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), promoted by Don Bosco on 18 April 1869, one year after the consecration of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians at Valdocco.
(ANS - Rome) – Issue number 72 (January-June 2019) of Ricerche Storiche Salesiane (Salesian Historical Researches), the bi-monthly magazine of Salesian religious and civil history, published by the Istituto Storico Salesiano (Salesian Historical Institute) has been published. Highlights are the second part of the study of the "Kristu Jyoti College" of Bangalore, India, the essays on the Indian Salesian Philip Thayil and on the Venerable Polish cardinal August Hlond, and an analysis of Don Bosco's Marian homiletic drafts.
(ANS - Rome) - One of the initiatives which the Salesians of the “Saint Patrick” Province of Ireland (IRL) have undertaken for this 2019 - a year celebrating the centenary of their presence on the island - concerns re-establishing the Salesian House of Formation in Maynooth. For this reason, Fr Cyril Odia, first Rector of the new Formation community, went to Rome and on Monday, 8 July, presented the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, with a copy of the brochure illustrating the new program of formation. Also present at this meeting were Fr Ivo Coelho, General Councilor for Formation, and other members of his formation team.
(ANS - Rome) - "A moment of encounter, communion and synodality ... which has given fulfillment to the Pre-Synodal meeting of young people in March 2018". This is how Fr Rossano Sala, SDB, Special Secretary for the Synod of Bishops of 2018, interprets the XI International Youth Forum, held from 18 to 22 June in Rome and Ciampino, with the participation of about 250 young people from all over the world, and from many ecclesial movements and associations.
(ANS - Rome) - Promoted by the Dicastery for Youth Ministry, there will be a study seminar on "Salesian Accompaniment and Affectivity" from 25 to 29 November 2019 at the "Sacro Cuore" of Rome. This is the last stage of a journey of animation of the Congregation on the theme of Salesian Accompaniment.
(ANS - Rome) - Under the painting of the Sacred Heart, in the center of the Basilica built by Don Bosco in its honor in Rome, there is a double portrait. The first is dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, the second to St. Marguerite-Marie Alacoque, from whom devotion to the Sacred Heart began, after the revelations she received from December 1673. Francis de Sales had founded with Saint Jeanne-Françoise de Chantal the Order of the Visitation, to which Marguerite-Marie Alacoque belonged. It is not just a question of historical references.
